Angkatan Tentera Malaysia
It is September 16th. Today is Hari Angkatan Tentera and I would like to take this opportunity to wish my brothers-in-arms Selamat Menyambut Hari Angkatan Tentera.
My wishlist for the Armed Forces would be by each of the services. For the Army, scrap the plan to buy the M-4, it is worse than the Steyr AUG A1 that is in service right now. The M-4 has more stoppages than any other modern weapons. Secondly, buy tank-busting aircraft and helicopters. With 48 tanks that we have now, it is not enough to cover the whole country, expensive to maintain and operate. For the Kor Agama Angkatan Tentera (KAGAT), I would like to see the inclusion of Buddhist monks, Christian chaplains…and for Malay Muslim officers to also attend events organised by members of the armed forces of other faiths. Otherwise scrap the name KAGAT and change it to Kor Hal Ehwal Islam or something similar.
For the Navy, have more multirole support vessels, more frigates and corvettes capable of AAW and ASW. The NGPV project vessels should be fitted with what they’re supposed to have, and not just being maintained as fitted-but-not-with concept vessels. The Navy should also have its own maritime strike aircraft.
For the Air Force, do away with the F-18 Hornets. Get more SU-30MKMs and upgrade the MiG-29’s. Get a few AEW aircrafts as well.
Today is also Malaysia Day.
My wishlist for Malaysia is for all of us to start doing away with racial lines and needs, and begin to have needs as one race – BANGSA MALAYSIA. We can be of different race and religion, but we should all have one thing in mind: this country is ours, together, and whether you are malay, chinese, indian, iban, bidayuh, murut, kadazan, semenanjung, sabah or sarawak, we should all be equal, and equal opportunities ie. Dasar Ekonomi Baru should benefit the poor to bridge the economic gap.
Last on my wishlist is to see Jejaka Kepala
Butoh Batas step down tomorrow, if not today.
