Australia may license scuba diving
This may be a good move for Australia. The Marine Park Department of Malaysia has already imposed a fee of RM5.00 (Euro 1.10 or US$1.33 or Japanese Yen 149.00) per visitor per visit to any of the Marine Parks in Malaysia.
Apart from the flash-looking Marine Department offices in the parks, I don’t see how else has the money collected been spent. Hence, the rubbish-dump look of the Pulau Payar Marine Park.
Can someone clarify?
Scuba diver missing in another PADI night diving course accident
This diver went missing after aborting a night dive in rough seas. Why do a night dive course for Advanced Open Water if the sea is rough? Why didn’t the center just limit the dive to experienced divers instead?
Bad publicity for diving.
A 24-year old man is suing the Shanghai Changfeng Park after a shark bit his ear and head while he was scuba diving in the aquarium.
Why build a house by the sea if you are afraid of waves?

In this article (Cull sharks or cull ignorant Aussie surfers?), it demonstrates the paranoia of the Australian surfing community.
Let’s put it this way…you walk in a jungle, you’re entering someone else’s lair. You swim in the ocean, you are entering someone else’s lair. So if your neighbour’s dog strays into your house’s compound, and you kill it, would it be right for the neighbour to kill you?
Reminds me of myself…after that first trip to Tioman with Faizal, Mya, Kit, Mervyn, Dennis, Fong, Pek Kee, Sook Wai, Yusmar…I have not taken any of the tablets to regulate my heartbeat or for my cholesterol.

Forumers from have been sending me private messages, e-mails, and Yahoo! Messenger messages, asking if I’m for real (not wanting to post anymore on MDC).
I am being real here…the only time I changed my mind was the dive destination (even after having paid an organiser for an LOB trip)…because my good friend wanted me to dive in Tioman with the rest. Even that trip was spoilt by unwanted calls and SMS’s…that I wish I could just disappear off the jetty, never to be found alive again.
That is how I feel right now…deep down I wish for the earth to open and swallow me up.
39 years, 2 months and 12 days…the only precious ones holding me back are my daughters and son.
I have two favorite forums…the Malaysia Diving Community, and Fins Online Forum. I write more in the former as I felt a sense of belonging there.
Of late, the forum has not been any fun. People bickering, some taking things too personally, that one cannot say anything to advice some divers about their dive conducts, especially when the latter is diving with their charge.
Any advice to me is good advice. I have bad habits when diving too…which is why I prefer not to have any buddy (which in turn is bad). And I have been getting advices from those with more experience in diving than I. I appreciate those advices although I may not have to heed to them.
Take it with a pinch of salt, people.

I wonder how many people on this planet realised the significance of September 17th.
Come to think of it, I can’t recall when exactly is Mother’s, Father’s and Teacher’s days.
