How Islamic Are The Islamic Authorities? – Part 2

The Director-General of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) yesterday dismissed the view of the Perlis mufti as the view of “one man”. He is disputing the mufti‘s view that the act of embarrassing couples found in close proximity is unIslamic. The mufti had said that such act would only bring about defiance and anger and would not make the offenders repent.

I for one find it very regressing for Islam as it will only encourage those with frail faith to leave the religion after seeing such ridiculous acts and brand Islam as being an infringement on human rights. Well, it has happened before and it will carry on happening if people do not go back to the basic fundamentals of Islam which is Iqra’ (read). That was the first thing that God had passed onto Muhammad (pbuh): to learn.

Education is still the best way to curb offences. And those who do not believe in God’s words (including those who dispute the contents of the al-Quran as the DG did), God has promised them hellfire and they will remain in it.

MEASAT-3

Boeing 601HP MEASAT-3

MEASAT-3 was launched early this morning. I missed the launch which was shown live on TV1. I didn’t miss the first two launches 10 years ago when they launched them from Arianspace’s launch site in French Guyana. This time it was from Baikonur, Kazakhstan.

My Sis, Gee

Gee with Fazira

My daughter Fazira had wanted to meet up with Gee for so long. So one day I made that happen.

Thanks, sis. I know how busy you are with promoting your new album and so on. But you made it there for us.

Besut Stud Exits Stage Left

Me and Besut Stud 48 days ago

It is 6.00pm on December 7th, 2006. Besut Stud has left the Tairoo Factory.

Finally.

So he is now out of the race to determine who will outlast and become the champion as The Last Local Male In The Tairoo Factory.

He will be commuting to a place much farther than he has to as at 5.59pm, but I guess it will give him the satisfaction where he will actually see that there is life outside the box. First, he will face the shock of having to put his brain into full utilisation, something Walking Vibrator, TNB CEO Lookalike and I had to go through 8 months ago…after years of compresing the brain into peanut size as had to deal with stupid people and incalcitrants.

Good luck bro. On the bright side, no more sharing polluted air emitted by morons.

There Is Light At The End Of The Tunnel – Part 2

Soon...very soon...hopefully tomorrow

My Princeton Tec Shockwave LED light left Ohio on December 5th and passed through Cleveland (Ohio), Louisville (Kentucky) and Anchorage (Alaska) on December 6th, and today it arrived at Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong and is now subjected to an X-ray inspection. It is due to arrive in my hands tomorrow (December 8th).

Yippee!

December 7th

USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbour

65 years ago, the Pacific phase of World War 2 began. But contrary to popular beliefs, the first salvos of the pacific War was shot NOT at Pearl Harbour, but here in our own backyard – near Kelantan.

A RAF PBY Catalina was shot down by the Japanese as it monitored the Japanese invasion fleet that was closing in on Malaya. It was around 10am on December 7th, 1941 local time (or, 10.30am according to our time now, or, 4.30pm on December 6th in Honolulu, Hawaii). Shortly after midnight of 7th/8th December local time, fierce artillery salvos were let loose and the Japanese invasion of Malaya was underway. At this time, it was just after 6am on December 7th in Hawaii, and Admiral Nagumo’s planes were just on their way to Pearl Harbour.

There Is Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Princeton Tec Shockwave LED

Ah! I just received an e-mail from the USA saying that my light will be shipped out today. Finally…now I can safely send my present light for servicing to Daddy In The City although I know he might just screw the light up more than the it is right now.

It’s 9-watts/170 Lumens produced by 3 X 3-watt LEDs that are powered by 8 X C-cell alkaline batteries with a burn time of 20 hours at low setting (100m beam), or, 12 hours at high setting (128m beam).

Shockproof, it is rated to 100m depth.

So I should expect it to arrive sometime before Christmas.

How much did it cost me?

US$169.95 plus shipping by UPS (roughly RM605.00)

The Distant Jarak

Pulau Jarak from the Kaleebso

Now..I shall be moving house this Thursday and hopefully everything’s settled by Friday. Come Saturday, I hope to do two dives in Port Dickson. Yes, it has been more than a year since I dived there.

I hope to do Pulau Jarak again in January some time. Me and Little Angel plan to do a weekend getaway just to decompress from city life.

I hope to relax..and not think of anything but maximise my dives.
