The SDA Trio

Muaazam, Alice and I at the island-hopping jetty in Kuah

The photo above was taken on 3rd March 2004, when the going was still good. The three of us, me, Alice and Muaazam were sent on a four-months of a two-week deployment in Langkawi. We were a good team. It is sad to know that we will soon go our own way.

It was also a time when we would sit by the beach trying to kill boredom, listening to Thai songs. We were mainly listening to songs by Peacemaker, a group that has since broken up. We only had each other to keep ourselves sane. I was so close to Thailand but remained on this side of the border.

I really wonder why does it have to come to this….the motherf***ers…

My Plans: march & April 2006

These are my plans for the months of march and April of 2006:

March 2006:

21-23: Bidong Island
24-26: Mantanani Island

April 2006:

07-11: Koh Lipe
14-16: Reefballs deployment in Tioman
28-01 May: Monitoring of reefballs in Tioman

Another Death…

Another Malaysian diver death happened somewhere in Sarawak on the 4th March 2006.

Awaiting details…

Sad…sad…

Fuel Fool

Oh shoot...I have no more money!

When I bought my Proton Saga back in 1992, it cost me RM49.50 to fill her up from empty. My wife’s Kenari, bought in 2003 cost RM48.00 to fill up from empty. My Naza Ria cost me RM95.00 to fill up when I bought it in 2004.

Now a full tank from empty for my Saga would cost me RM86.40; RM76.00 for my wife’s Kenari; and RM144.00 for my Naza Ria. That is a whopping 74.5% increase over the last 14 years or a 5.32% hike per annum.

And they say the present level can only be maintained until December 2006.

Sigh!

Tioman 2006: Monsoon Ended?

Big One! Big One!
One of the waves that was going to hit the speedboat broadside.

Critter at Roger Wreck

Another one
Critter at Roger Wreck

Let's get outta here!
The instance I asked this guy for his driver’s license, he fled.

So How Was Tioman?

It was okay. Waves were between 2.5m to 3.5m high. The only outer reef we could dive was at Batu Malang.

But I enjoyed Roger Wreck.

I’ll be posting them pics up soon.
