There was a song I used to listen to some 23 years ago. It’s by Cheap Trick and it’s called The Flame. The girl above has nothing to do with it but Yuko Ogura is the kind of girl who’d keep my “torch” burning:
Another night slowly closes in,
And I feel so lonely.
Touching heat freezing on my skin,
I pretend you still hold me.
I’m going crazy, I’m losing sleep.
I’m in too far, I’m in way too deep over you.
I can’t believe you’re gone.
You were the first, you’ll be the last.
Wherever you go, I’ll be with you.
Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you.
Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon.
Remember: after the fire, after all the rain,
I will be the flame.
I will be the flame.
Watching shadows move across the wall,
I feel so frightened.
I wanna run to you, I wanna call,
But I’ve been hit by lightening.
Just can’t stand up for fallin’ apart.
Can’t see through this veil across my heart, over you.
You’ll always be the one.
You were the first, you’ll be the last.
Wherever you go, I’ll be with you.
Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you.
Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon.
Remember: after the fire, after all the rain,
I will be the flame.
I will be the flame.
I’m going crazy, I’m losing sleep.
I’m in too far, I’m in way too deep over you.
Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you.
Wherever you go, I’ll be with you.
And whatever you want, I’ll give it to you.

Went shooting this morning. I was a bit rusty but still managed to make it to tomorrow’s semi-finals. I first shot with this sidearm back in 1988 when I was a serving military officer.
They’re still using it.
I should get my Glock.
Kimi has finally arrived in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I received an SMS from him yesterday about his arrival, stating how rude the Immigration officers there are. Well, nothing new. I just hope the ones in Malaysia would have learnt their lessons by now.
Kimi sent me this e-mail:
Yes, i’m finally arrived in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The weather is cool, windy & dry. Since it’s winter season, night temp can drop to 13 degree. It bites to the bone. Hah.
The people is nice too. The food is amazing. Expecting to see diff kimi in 2 weeks time. Lastly, women are hardly being seen around for obvious reason.

I found this posting on the Malaysia Diving Community from a forumer called Belushi.
If I may paste the posting here:
I am a professional.
15 years teaching, PADI Master Instructor, IANTD Adv EANx Instructor, 5000+ dives, (1000 of them @ Pulau Payar & Pulau Segantang)
The problem is that us Matsallays need work permits to work in beautiful Malaysia and the govt, in its infinite wisdom, does not let us stay for very long.
I am back in the UK now, but I regularly remember my time in Langkawi and Penang.
I would love to come back
I would say although there are local Divemasters, Assistant Instructors as well as Instructors, it may be somewhat wise for the government to allow foreign DMs, AIs and Instructors to work at local dive centers because I honestly believe they can help promote Malaysia as a dive destination in this region. What more with the presence of wrecks of warships in Malaysian waters, Malaysia can be THE dive destination that can offer both recreational and technical dive destinations other countries in this region, save for the Phillipines.
And Jimy’s taken up 4-wheel off-road thingy.
My wife’s gone for that today…along with my daughters.
Me, after 9 years of jungle-bashing, I’m tired of looking at greens.
Kimi is probably at KLIA by the time I write this. He’s off to Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, via Bangkok and Bahrain.
Phew, that’s a long haul!
Have a good trip.
Diver Dan’s student lucky to be alive after near-fatal PADI open water scuba accident
I don’t know how this happened…but read about it.
My first partner-in-crime, Kimi, will soon tie the knot.
Good luck to him. Hehe.
I did a trace and found the coward:
