Compared to MCOBA, ANSARA is not politically-inclined at all save for some chapters. But even those Pakatan-leaning chapters did not nominate Mukhriz for any position.
When I advised the committee members of an Air Force veterans association to seek help from Mukhriz the Menteri Besar over an issue they were facing in Kedah, they shook their head saying they would rather seek help from the EXCOs or individual ADUNs as Mukhriz was not a performer.
Of course, Mukhriz has been making his rounds in his parliamentary constituency but even people there tell me that he hardly visited them when he was the MB. They dismissed it as a superficial attempt to show that he is still relevant.
He even visited Langkawi, where his own father is the self-appointed Ketua Pribumi, to tell people of his vision to develop Langkawi even further, including turning the padi patch behind the Ayer Hangat Cultural Village into a commercial area.
The problem is, the islanders are aware that for 22 years, Mukhriz’s father only brought development to the southern part of the island, enriching cronies and outsiders, giving them land, leaving people in the northern half to fend for themselves.
Just like Pulau Pinang, there is hardly a beach that locals could go to to enjoy.
Other than bitching about what BN does, they are also good at doing bad things like creating fear among the kampung folks by dishing out lies.
An example is the putting up of a land office map of several kampungs in Seri Medan with a crudely-drawn rectangle showing “the new alignment of the High Speed Rail” that will affect the respective kampungs. Not even people in the Johor Land and Housing committee have heard of such re-alignment of the HSR.
Although Pribumi has a foot in Kampung Parit Seri Menanti where a former UMNO man angered by not being given contracts had set up a Pribumi branch, the party has made a base out of Kampung Sri Bengkal’s favourite Soto Kambing joint in nearby Parit Yob which is operated by a housewife and her amputee husband.
But seeing the number of likes and comments on the Instagram page belonging to a high-ranking Pribumi official shows that the 1.5 million signatures of a petition presented by Pribumi AMANDA’s Syed Sajat is nothing but a fabrication.
Of late, even Pakatan-organised talks cannot muster the same crowds as they used to. A sign that people are weary of the amount of bitching the Pakatan has been doing instead of spending time and taxpayers’ money in the form of their allowances to do good for the rakyat.
There may have been some crowd when Mahathir was in Kuching recently but you can hardly take that as a show for support. Even my BN-supporting relatives were there “to see what the fuss is all about” and to see what stallowners have to offer.
See how the latest Pakatan talk fared.
Even the President of Pribumi who claimed he was expelled from UMNO for fighting against the alleged excessiveness of Najib Razak, could muster a handful at his talks.
This is the sorry state of support that the Pakatan could muster. It tells a lot. Maybe they should save the trouble first before saving Malaysia.
There are times when I wonder how neither Ramadhan and Syawal are no longer sacrosanct to the people from the Pakatan Harapan.
The latest blank shot was fired by Fahmi Fadzil claims that the Pakatan has nothing to do with the civil suit by the US Department of Justice.
There is a pattern here actually. The RM2.6 billion issue was first brought up by the Wall Street Journal on 2 July 2015, exactly 14 days before Hari Raya.
This was followed a year later by the first civil suit by the DoJ on 20 July 2016, again, 14 days after Hari Raya.
That the latest suit comes a week before Hari Raya is of no surprise to me. It is just timed for the Pakatan to have something to talk about while diverting the real issues of the abuses committed by their overlords in the DAP as well as the problems of the self-proclaimed champion of Pakatan, the PPBM.
The overlords in the DAP, a party that virtually submits to the wishes of the Emperor Lim Kit Siang and Tokong Lim Guan Eng has been facing questions from the Penang Barisan Nasional and esteemed blogger Miss Lim Sian See. All the questions have thus far gone unanswered. The self-proclaimed champion of Pakatan, PPBM, is facing an internal strife where the leadership cannot even answer questions posed by those in their own ranks, who were jumped upon by Mukhriz who slammed them for criticising the leadership. It was alright, however, for his father to criticise the leadership of UMNO TWICE that resulted in a trust deficit in the party, and the departure of one President.
I doubt that there is anything to worry about the latest DoJ suit. It still is a civil suit for the forfeiture of assets and is far from being a criminal suit. And while direct reference has been made towards Jho Low, most other characters mentioned in the suit are monikers (for lack of a better word) to refer to people who are NOT being investigated regarding the case.
But of course, people like Fahmi Fadzil insists that someone be brought to justice, and charged in a court of law in Malaysia. On what charge? What crime has taken place and where? Even the DoJ says it is a civil suit for something that happened within the American financial system. How do we even try an American case in Malaysia? So does Pakatan speak about all this with no knowledge or any hint of any comprehension of the legal system?
Now, let me repeat this. MO1 is called MO1 because MO1 is NOT being investigated. In the suit document I do not see any Najib Razak or MO1 or Rosmah Mansor being named as persons or institutions that might be affected by the suit.
Therefore, if MO1 is not affected by the investigation and suit, why is there a need to summon the Ambassador of the United States to Malaysia?
And yes, Singapore has fined, charged, jailed, banned some people and banks for money laundering of 1MDB money. Was that done by Malaysians or Malaysian officials?
And isn’t making statements like “And lest we forget, the aim of the civil forfeiture is to return the money stolen back to the Malaysian people” malicious? Perhaps Fahmi Fadzil can enlighten us which money of the rakyat’s that has been stolen? As far as audits performed by the government and renowned audit firms, all 1MDB money has been accounted for. And mind you, monies borrowed by 1MDB to make more money were not from the rakyat’s coffers. Unlike the bailouts of cronies by Pakatan’s Supreme-Leader-once-Enemy Mahathir, no public fund was ever used by the 1MDB to make money, save for the paid-up capital when setting up the company.
Also the following statement made by Fahmi Fadzil:
“It is clear that Malaysians demand the truth – about what really happened in 1MDB; about the billions of ringgit allegedly siphoned by certain individuals; about diamonds and other expensive things bought allegedly using billions stolen from the Malaysian people.“
Again, audits of the 1MDB has shown that no money is missing from 1MDB’s coffers. So how can there be billions of ringgit siphoned by any individual from the Malaysian people? Walk the talk, Fahmi. Show us the billions siphoned from the Malaysian people. Talk is cheap. Bullshit s cheaper.
Diamonds. Well, who has the diamonds? What was Fahmi Fadzil implying? That the wife of the MO1 received diamonds? There has been no proof whasoever that Rosmah received any diamond ring from Jho Low. If she did, is it wrong for a person to receive gifts? When you receive a present from your father, do you ask him where he got the money to buy that present from?
Jho Low did buy his mother diamonds though.
The only story about the wife of MO1 receving a diamond ring only came from one of the jokers in Pakatan. The most famous joker who lost four court cases for slander.
My only guess why Salleh Said Keruak wrote as such is that he, as I am, was angry that story about a civil suit by the DoJ that makes no mention of the MO1 being investigated, is being skewed by Fahmi Fadzil et al to make it look to the rakyat as if there has been a wrongdoing by the MO1 and the wife of the MO1. Only brainless monkeys would continue to believe the lies that have been dished out by the Pakatan.
And as for Fahmi Fadzil’s call for Jho Low to be tried in Malaysia, I hope he does have a brain. What has he stolen from Malaysia?
Eager to divert attention from the problems faced by Pakatan, Fahmi tries to look smart and suggest stupid things. Please continue with this stupidity, Fahmi. You are definitely doing BN a favour.
Back in September 1998, I asked a fellow ex-serviceman, a known Anwar Ibrahim supporter, of his direction when Anwar declared war on UMNO. His reply was simple but meaningful:
“You don’t burn your house down just because your family hates you. They are still family.”
When U-Turn Mahathir formed Pribumi, many expected UMNO members to dump the latter in throngs and join the former. That never happened.
Anwar’s facade in his war against Mahathir for the premier post was his “fight against nepotism and cronyism.”
Some “changes” did take place within post-Anwar UMNO. Mahathir’s son Mokhzani stepped down as the UMNO Youth’s treasurer while Mukhriz was not allowed to contest for the Youth Chief position.
As it goes in the Old Testament: “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or a leopard its spots? Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil.”
The epitome of nepotism in Pribumi is the naming of Mukhriz as its Deputy President while Mahathir, who holds the Chair, is also the de facto leader, something he failed to become in the UMNO under Najib Razak.
The first hint of problems arising in the months-old party is when Mahathir is seen going around doing roadshows with most of the pro-tem committee members including Mukhriz who is the Deputy President, while Muhyiddin Yassin who is the President appears mostly alone.
Two months after the party’s formation, Khairuddin aka Mr Botox, known as Mahathir’s chow kow or running dog left the party to “concentrate on court cases.”
Five months later, both he and Mr Empty Boxes aka Ezam, headed a party called New Gen Party and changed its name to Parti Bebas Rasuah.
Several days ago, the President of the New Gen Party, Kumaar Aaman, and its Secretary-General Mohamad Zaini Jaafar, lodged a report to the police and Registrar of Societies claiming that Ezam had stolen his party.
Barely two months after the departure of Mr Botox, a scandal erupted in Pribumi. Internal rivalry saw the exposure of steamy WhatsApp conversations screen captures between Anina Saadudin and her supposed sex partner. The exposé was done by none other than her own assistant, Haiyan Uqba.
Anina, who is a Mahathir loyalist is rumoured to be at loggerheads with the Osman sisters from Perak. Whether or not they are involved in the scheme to oust Anina is yet to be proven.
Early last month, 500 members of the party from the Rembau division quit the party en masse. According to the PPBM Chief Activist for Negeri Sembilan, Mohd Anas Sudin, he and the 500 have lost their confidence in the party leadership.
Last week, the Gabungan Ketua Cawangan Malaysia (GKCM) decided to withdraw its support for the party’s leadership. The movement claims to have 5,000 supporters.
This was followed today by the resignation from all party posts as well as the leaving of the party by one of its founding members, Kamarulazman Habibur Rahman.
Kamarulazman said that the leadership of Pribumi has their head high in the clouds and are too fixated on becoming the PM.
“Those who worked really hard for the party are now being treated as second-class citizens,” he said.
He added that his departure from Pribumi is being followed by 821 members nationwide, mostly from Negeri Sembilan.
In a feeble attempt to hide the truth, Syed Saddiq attributed Kamarulazman’s departure to “threats” from the government as he is a teacher.
If this is so, are the 1,321 former members of Pribumi teachers too?
However, when expelled from UMNO in March 2016, Kamarulazman made mention that he does not fear losing his job as a teacher for supporting the Opposition.
It’s not a secret that hundreds of teachers support the Opposition yet they are still teaching. So what excuse can Syed Saddiq give now?
Perhaps, as pointed by blogger Anotherbrickinwall, Mahathir too would leave the divided new party.
I doubt any party would take him. DAP, the favourite choice, is filled with people opposed to the idea of working with Mahathir, let alone allowing him to join.
The same goes to PKR.
Perhaps it is time for Mahathir to leave the withering flower and consider retirement from politics and join the only party that would probably make him happy.
Since then, the Tokong has been proven to lie about many things including abusing his power to satisfy his self-interest in the purchase of the infamous swimming-pool-less bungalow at Jalan Pinhorn. He has been charged in court for corruption over a similar offence committed by former Selangor Menteri Besar, Khir Toyo.
I am sure Emperor Kit Siang realises that Teh Yee Cheu is a Malay and has always been an UMNO member and is part of the “Black Ops” against DAP.
Another “Black Ops” was during the 2013 DAP party elections when UMNO’s company Microsoft, planted a doctored Excel spreadsheet program to sabotage the party elections. Even the Registrar of Societies have yet to come with a decision on the outcome of the elections AFTER FOUR YEARS.
But what Emperor Kit Siang will soon realise when his son the Tokong goes to jail for corruption is that his wife Neo Yoke Tee has always been a closet UMNO member and was instructed to give birth to a dumb son. The good thing is that Lim Kit Siang will still have a scapegoat for that.
Muhyiddin teraksa mendiamkan diri.
Fikir-fikirkanlah sebelum memilih.
Tetapi tertanya-tanya juga…apa kata Muhyiddin sekarang mengenai BR1M?
Every time I read Mahathir’s postings on his blog, I would imagine him writing it himself and then pass it to probably his trusted aide, Sufi, to do some research and fill in the blanks before passing it back to him for the final touch before the article is posted at chedet.cc. The URL used to be chedet.com if I am not mistaken but due to some dispute with the previous administrators the URL is now the current one. The administrators, while working for him, displayed their support for another contender for the Ketua Pemuda UMNO post instead of for Mahathir’s son, Mukhriz. Anyhow, the contender they supported lost the race, and so did Mukhriz. Mahathir was furious when he found out that they did not support his son and as the story goes, the two quit without ever disclosing the password for chedet.com.
I have never worked for Mahathir or for any other politician for that matter. I just write whatever I feel like writing. But I don’t have the same privilege that is someone to do the research for me. So when I read his latest post The 2017 Budget I felt disappointed that the research done was just as good as mine if not worse.
5. Why will the Government not have the money? It is because Government money is not used for good governance, for the development of the country and the well-being of the people.
This is like shooting blanks. The East Coast Highway began construction in 2001. The project was first announced in 1994 for a new highway that would stretch from Karak to Kuala Terengganu but construction was delayed due to the Asian Financial Crisis. When construction commenced, the highway was shortened to only Kuantan as a lesson by Mahathir to the people of Terengganu whom had voted PAS instead in 1999. You should remember what I wrote in a previous article on how vindictive Mahathir was towards the people of Kelantan and Terengganu for their support for PAS then. So, Mahathir too never spent money for the well-being of the people. Only his cronies prospered whenever projects are implemented.
The 11th Malaysia Plan has lined up many projects that would benefit the youth, the handicapped, the minorities and those who live in traditional villages. Three pilot projects will be implemented for the youths under the 1Malaysia Youth City program in the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak. For children between the age of 13 and 18 residing in welfare institutions they would be given the opportunity to undergo the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) to provide them with skill sets for them to face the world when they become independent. A micro-credit scheme would be introduced to the Chinese community under the Chinese New Villages Special Loan Scheme program while a blueprint for the betterment of the Indian community will be prepared.
Six new hospitals will be built while three hospitals namely the Tawau, Kota Marudu and Miri Hospitals would be upgraded. As it is, the Sri Aman Hospital would be completed as soon as possible. On top of that, 165 new Klinik 1Malaysia will be built nationwide to provide basic medical care for those in the rural areas.
Unlike under Mahathir, the Pan-Borneo highway that has begun construction will be toll free. Mahathir had had to make the people pay for the construction of highways despite claiming that the government had much more money under his administration and we in KL especially are still paying for the sins of Mahathir in the form of extended toll concessions to his cronies. And for 22 years the people of Sabah and Sarawak had to endure endless ferry rides to get from one place to another while bridges have been and are being built under Najib’s administration despite not having any money as claimed by Mahathir. AND NO TOLL EITHER!
More Mass Rail Transit and proper extension of the Light Rail Transit to benefit the people in the Klang Valley have and are being constructed as compared to the time under Mahathir’s 22 years when the government seemingly had more money. Double-tracking rail project, High-Speed Rail project and most recent was the announcement on the new East Coast Rail Link that would benefit the people of the very region Mahathir hated very much.
So where was your good governance or your concern for the well-being of the people back then?
7. For this the Prime Minister has created sinecure jobs for a lot of loyalists. There are now nine Ministers, three Deputy Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department.
8. There are now 51 divisions in the Prime Minister’s Department. The budget allocation for the Prime Minister’s Department has risen from RM5.2 billion in 2000 to RM20 billion in 2016, a four folds rise. It is 13 per cent of the 2016 budget of RM267 billion. It was less than four per cent between 2000 and 2008.
The Prime Minister’s Department is being run by the Chief Secretary to the Government. It now includes agencies that were not there during Mahathir’s time such as the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA/APMM) whose jurisdiction goes beyond the 12-nautical mile statutory limit of most of our Acts, enforces the EEZ but is not under the Ministry of Defence as it is not a military force. So who is to look after the development and the legislative requirements of the agency if not a Minister? The same goes for the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) which looks after the security of Sabah’s east coast from intrusion by foreign paramilitary units. The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) also falls under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department and that has to be headed by a Minister as given by the Act. The Istana Negara, the Parliament, the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission, the Elections Commission, the Economic Planing Unit, they all come under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department. Not forgetting Mahathir’s own Secretariat Office for the Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad which did not exist prior to his resignation as the Prime Minister. So is he complaining about the budget that the Prime Minister’s Department is giving his people so they can write lies and bite the hand that feeds them? Maybe Mahathir’s cook needs to be pulled out. I don’t know what has the cook been feeding the old man that his mind has gone from that of a statesman to that of an estate’s man.
10. Under BR1M, 7 million people got initially RM500 each. Now they are promised RM1,000. There will be more increases next year.
11. At RM500 it will cost the Government RM3.5 billion. At RM1,000 it will cost RM7 billion.
12. Perhaps the very poor would benefit but for most of the recipients RM500 for a year is meaningless. The better thing to do is to give the really needy, the hard core poor sufficient monthly allowances to support their lives. For the rest create jobs and train them. But the Government is not encouraging job creation. Local industries are not supported. But imports are encouraged.
RM7 billion it would cost the government to give out BR1M.
BR1M would be chicken-feed for Mahathir. His cronies spend RM1,000 at Chawan in front of Bangsar Village or at the Bangsar Shopping Centre to feed his bloggers.
It may be a one-off thing but that means a staggering amount of RM7 billion gets circulated in the economy. Being a layman my understanding of that would be that when there is more money in circulation, jobs are being created as people have more spending power. At RM500 or RM1,000 per person it may not seem much, but by having that extra money to spend encourages spending. Purchases will be made, demand is created, production needs to be increased, more business opportunities for new industrial players, and therefore more jobs are created.
It may not matter to Mahathir that it increases the disposable income of the lower income groups; it boosts consumer sentiments as it increases domestic consumption – the higher the amount of BR1M, the higher the domestic spending. With subsidy cuts and spending more on BR1M Malaysia’s deficit has been reduced with a much larger chunk of the economic wealth going to those who need it the most.
And under the 11th Malaysia Plan the government is committed towards having 11,000 physically-challenged individuals to work for the government while in the five economic corridors in the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak alone 470,000 jobs will be created.
19. The level of borrowings by the Government has reached record levels. Future generations will have to pay these loans.
20. All these will not show up in the budget. But the people will know as they struggle to make ends meet.
Singapore has a US$1.76 Trillion external debt with a Debt to GDP ratio of 106%. Our debt stands at RM630.5 billion (US$150.6 billion) while our GDP is at RM1.157 Trillion (US$276 billion) making our Debt to GDP ration 54.5%. If Singapore is not panicking then why should we?
In fact, if we compare the first seven years of Mahathir’s administration against Najib’s we can see that we should have gone bankrupt (in the words of Mahathir’s lackey Kadir Jasin) when our Debt to GDP ratio was well over 100% for two years in a row!
We could see that not only debt had increased during Mahathir’s first seven years, GDP also fluctuated and was at its highest point in 1987 yet debt was much higher!
Compare that to Najib’s first seven years and we can see
As a matter of fact, the bad performance of Debt to GDP ratio during the 1986-1987 period under Mahathir was not the only time when the economy was in a critical situation going by Kadir Jasin’s definition, the country’s GDP was at negative 7% when Mahathir carried the country through the Asian Financial Crisis in 1998 – which was worse than when Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi ran the country during the Global Financial Crisis in 2008 which was at negative 1.5%!
So is Malaysia on the verge of bankruptcy? “Although we were faced with the drastic fall in global crude oil prices in 2015/2016, which caused the government to lose more than RM30 billion in revenue, the country still recorded a positive economic growth which was 6% in 2014, 5% in 2015 and 4.1% in 2016 (6 months),” said Second Finance Minister Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani.
And despite losing that much revenue, the government could still finance its projects – thank you in large to the implementation of the GST which has allowed the government to have an alternative source of income and reduce the dependency on the the price of oil. To add the strawberry on top of that cake is that the inflation rate of 3.43% upon the implementation of the GST program has been reduced to less than 2% this year.
Perhaps Mahathir ought to fire whoever it was who helped research for that article of his. Such a waste of allocation from the Prime Minister’s Department. Seriously!
Small in numbers, about 5% of the total Mamak population but rather loud and “glaring”. Though mostly from the 3rd Graded colony, they have graduated well and have an ability of a Chameleon (or think they can) with the Malays. Some examples of these low dignity Melayu Celups are Ahmad Rizal Naina Merican, Sheik Hussein Mydin and Zambry Kadir carrying the Mamak trade mark glaringly. But if they are lucky they will look like the controversial Sharifah Zobra or Mahathir Mohamed. Let me give you a secret, any names that ends with Naina, Kadir, Mydin, Merican, Pakir, Jabeen, Shaik, Mubarakh, Mohammad (no reference to the Prophet Mohamed S.A.W.) are downright, flat out, no doubt, true blue Mamak Tongkang or the immediate descendant’s.
