Mars Will Swing By Close Again

Mars Attack! For the second time in 60,000 years, Mars will swing by close to Earth again this weekend. This time it will be 43.1 million miles away (as compared to its 35 million-mile distance in 2003), and will appear as a brilliant ball just above the horizon. Its closest pass will be at 10.25am Malaysian time on Sunday.

Mars and Earth are normally separated by about 140 million miles, and will not be this close again until 2018.
