Warning!

It is now 6.55am.

Slightly more than an hour ago, some would have received an SMS from me.

At 1.00am, I felt a sharp pain left of the upper part of the Sternum, on the rib cage an inch away from the Sternum.

This sharp pain reoccured at 5.35am.

As I type this, I feel slight discomfort in that region.

I’m going to sleep now.

It’s 6.48am

5.58am.

I just got back. In the darkness of the room I removed my clothes and changed into t-shirt and kain pelikat. Two minutes passed when The Datin’s cellphone’s alarm went off. She got up to turn off the alarm, looked at the digital clock, then turned to me and asked, “Kenapa tak balik pagi nanti aje?”

“Ini pagi la ni!” I replied. “Awal pagi! Pukul 6 pagi!”

I’m Going Back Flying

Cessna 206 Stationair
Cessna 206 Stationair

My aircrew medical has been cleared. My tinnitus apparently has not hindered my hearing as I could hear all the required frequencies. The only snag is I can never fly solo because of my hypertension – so I have been cleared to fly multicrew. I’ll just have to find a licensed sucker to fly with me.

I also plan to have a change of type. Aircraft type, that is. I used to fly the Cessna 172 Skyhawk a lot, but I plan to change to the Cessna 206 Stationair. The 172s are nimbler and lighter and fun to fly. But the 206 is bigger in capacity, and a lot heavier. The police pilots used to complain about the somewhat difficult handling of the 206s, before they switched to the Pilatus PC-6s and Cessna 208 Grand Caravans.

So, some weekends when I’m not diving, I’ll be flying. Maybe it’s time to fly to Ipoh for nasi kandar followed by ais kacang in Sitiawan…just like old times.

It’s War Again

Went paintballing with about 40 other divers and non-divers. There were four combat-trained members (self, Mocha, Icecool and Countloon) but what was lacking was the firepower and fire-support. I hope to see in the future a compressed-air powered 60mm Mortar Commando lobbing condoms filled with paint, and aircraft dropping paint ‘napalm’ onto enemy area. I got shot twice, one on the head and one on my thigh, but surprisingly I do not have any bruise mark on me.

Got me to test my new SWAT Combat Boots that PASKAU now use…heheeh…nice and light.

Random Facts About Me

I’ve been tagged by Ardy.

The Rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
3. Tag eight people at the end of this post and list their names.
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

List eight (8) random facts about myself:

1. Yes, I Am A Product Of Sekolah Melayu Jalan Stesen, Kuala Kangsar

Even then, I do not enrol myself as a member of MCOBA, nor do I participate in any Old Boys Weekend or Annual Dinner, I don’t even use the Old Boys network to look for contacts or anything related to money. Only one person in my batch has my phone number, the rest know my no-longer active e-mail address. I only went back for Old Boys Weekend twice – 1996 and 2003. I lived there for 5 donkey years – enough, although I enjoyed every single minute of it.

Oh, and I’ve only golfed with them once.

2. As Budak Koleq, I went out with someone from TKC; 25 years later, I know more ex-STF than I know those from other girls’ boarding schools

And they are ALL here almost always reading my blog. Some dive with me, some dine with me. All I hold to my heart dearly. They are all my good friends.

3. I hold THREE Malaysian records

One was for being the first to parachute at the North Pole in 1998; then I became the first Malaysian to perform a BASE jump off KL Tower in 1999; third I rode a jet-ski for 1,000km non-stop in the open sea in the fastest time.

4. I love Thai folks and classical songs – and occasionally, pop

Don’t ask me to sing Malay songs: I only know those pre-1987 ones…well, only some.

5. I dislike sugar and salt

I take all my tea (I don’t drink (hardly drink) coffee) without sugar, except for Teh ‘O’ mamak where I will add half a teaspoonful of sugar. Salt? Give me vinegar and pepper anytime.

6. I had pork for one whole year during my first year

Yeah…my favourite lunch at the tuckshop was sausages, bakes beans and fries. On the last day of my first year, I asked the lady behind the counter, “What sausage is this?”

“It’s pork,” she said.

“Oh,” I answered in surprise. “Can I have another one please?”

7. I lost my virginity at the age of 19

Yes, it was with the ex-KaTaK girl. We were experimenting. At one point I asked her, “Am I in?”

“Yes,” she replied.

“You mean, in as IN?” I asked.

“Yes, I can feel you all the way to my throat,” she replied.

“Oh, it feels funny,” I remarked.

So I withdrew, and never ejaculated.

8. I’m a rebel

Oh well, that’s a well-known fact.

Now, I’m going to tag the following people:

It’s 11.56pm.

My bags are packed with my nightstop kit.

I’ll be leaving shortly and will not be coming back tonight.

Good night, John Boy.

Hippocampus What??

I have finally come to upload the pics of seahorses taken during the live-aboard trip to Pulau Sembilan early December 2007. The seahorses here are of the Hippocampus spinosissimus type and can be found in coral reefs area of the western coast of the Peninsular Malaysia between the depths of 12 to 16 meters. These shy animals will lie horizontally when threatened.

Tagged Again – Six Weird Things About Me

I have been tagged by my darling Fretty Frincess, and I am required to tell about six weird things about myself. So here goes:

1. I Love Heights – I Can Look Down But Not Look Up

I loved jumping out of anything that flies: airplanes, helicopters, microlights…and also off buildings. When I jump off from an aircraft, I love to go into a full dive, travelling at almost 300km/h downwards, than the normal neutral fall of about 196km/h. The best part is, opening my parachute low – usually between 5-7 seconds before I hit the ground. That used to be my therapy for depression.

However, I have been asked to promise not to do this again by two people.

On a high-rise building, I love looking at the ground below, but get weak-kneed looking up at a higher object. I know it’s weird but don’t ask.

2. I Love To Dive Deep And Alone

Most of the time you’ll catch me diving deeper than the recreational limit, often going into decompression dive – and always alone.

I love diving alone.

3. Movies/Songs

I do not listen to malay songs nor do I watch malay movies. I am mostly into English, Thai and Filipino songs from all genre.

4. Wallet

The notes in my wallet are in denomination sequence – always.

5. Tasty Food

I can eat raw garlic with cili boh. I also love jeruk and if you were to buy jeruk from a small sundry shop, I would drink up the acid from the jeruk container.

6. Homely

By nature I hate going out of the house for no solid reason. I can stay in my room for 3 days in a row and not go out.

Now I would like to tag the following:

Ardy

Najib

Hazyr

Ibu

DNAS

Happy Birthday, Lily, And Congratulations

Lily underwater

I would like to wish Lily a very happy birthday. Lily is from Hazyr’s batch and the first ex-STF blogger I met. She was doing her Open Water Diver course in Perhentian when I met her.

I would also like to announce and congratulate Lily on her forthcoming engagement.

May you be happy always.

Have fun, dive safe.
