Danko Meets Foxy

Persian cat

I’m writing this in response to Bakawali‘s posting on the demise of her 18-year old cat, Danko.

I had a cat I was really close to when I was 11. That was the only friend I had because my childhood was restricted to the compound of the house due to security reasons. I didn’t have any friend after school, so Foxy was my only friend.

One day, before going to school, I saw Foxy dragging its hind legs trying to reach me. It was obviously in pain. I told my mother about Foxy and on my way to school, the driver and I dropped Foxy off at the vet’s.

For three days I couldn’t eat properly thinking about Foxy. Then one day, I forced the driver to take me to the vet to see Foxy. I was devastated to know that it had to be put down.

I couldn’t do anything but cry everytime I got home from school and sat where Foxy used to sit after meals.

Danko, if you see Foxy, say hello to him. The two of you would make great pals in Cat Heaven.

Foxy would have been 31 this year.

The Sea Is My Love

Let your soul go towards the light

The sea is my life.

As far as I can remember, I was 4 years old when I first jumped into the sea. It was at Pulau Besar, Melaka, when I fell into the sea and almost drowned. A hand snatched me out of the water..and until now I don’t know whose hand it was. I got my sea legs because I have been out at sea since I was 5 years old.

About a month ago, someone said to me that as I love the sea, it will one day keep me.

My siblings are planning to celebrate my birthday as well as those other July relatives.

I am going back to the sea…I am GOING BACK to the sea. Since I have lost my little world where everything is beautiful, I will go back to the other world I know that is always waiting for my return.

And this reminds me of a song I loved listening to back in 1991:

over Mountains
over Trees
over Oceans
over Seas
across the desert
I’ll be there

in a whisper on the wind
on the smile of a new friend
just think of me
And I’ll be there

Don’t be afraid, oh my love
I’ll be watching you from above
And I’d give all the world tonight,
to be with you
Because I’m on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
but I’ve gone nowhere

Just think of me,
And I’ll be there

On the edge of a waking dream
over Rivers
over Streams
through Wind and Rain
I’ll be there

Across the wide and open sky
thousands of miles I’d fly
to be with you
I’ll be there

Don’t be afraid, oh my love
I’ll be watching you from above
And I’d give all the world tonight,
to be with you
Because I’m on your side,
And I still care
I may have died,
but I’ve gone nowhere

Just think of me,
And I’ll be there

In the breath of a wind that sighs
oh, there’s no need to cry

Just think of me,
And I’ll be there

Don’t miss me.

Rajinikahnt Superstar

Rajinikahnt as Sivaji, The Boss

Rajinikahnt has done it again.

It was after meeting with a few friends at the old State cinema in PJ when I saw the poster of Rajinikahnt above. I love his role in the movie “Paddayappa” which is still one of the best movies I had ever seen no matter how ridiculous the scenes may be.

Anyway, in this new movie called “Sivaji – The Boss”, Rajinikahnt plays a millionaire whom had returned to India to start a business but his rivals are bent on seeing him fail.

The production cost for this movie was close to RM70 million, with Rajinikahnt commanding a pay of RM17 million.

We will never beat Bollywood.

The Happenings Of Last Week

Last week Friday (22nd June) I discovered that my youngest child, Noorunnisaa, has one streak of grey hair. I wonder what earthly problems does she have to think about. I have one above my left temple too but I am spared looking like a platinum blond probably because I hardly have hair.

Then on Saturday (23rd June) I went for the DAN O2 Provider course with John Goh (jgshuwei), Leonard (SuperKingKong), Halimi, and Najib (Bijan). Before that I had nice breakfast. Lunch there was nice too but I didn’t eat much because it would have made me feel sleepy then.

I went to meet someone after that for some private discussion before making way to my mom’s place for a double celebration: my parents’ 46th wedding anniversary and my sister’s 45th birthday.

46th wedding anniversary…and this is my 3rd marriage since leaving totally single life 16 years ago. Damn!

Pulau Kapas Blues

Pulau Kapas

Do you know what is depressing? Looking at my watch and it showed 10 to 9.00am, and I can imagine people gearing up to go for their first dive. If this was Perhentian, I would be going to either Tukun Laut (Tokong Laut to some) or the Sugar Wreck. If this was Redang, I’d be going to Turtle Bay. If this was Tioman, I would have insisted on Chebeh’s north side; Aur, Pinnacle 1 or 2. Either that or donning my twin set and a EAN50 tank for accelerated decompression to dive somewhere deeper than 40 meters around Tioman.

I SMSed Deepblu reminding him about the time, and he replied saying he was also gearing up: for office. How sad life can be. He wants to go diving but does not have the time, and I have all the time but cannot go diving.

Do you know what’s even more depressing? When someone SMSed me about getting ready to go for the first dive at Pulau Kapas.

She’s Passed Her Exams

Najwa

My friend, Najwa, has passed her medical board examinations. Congratulations, Naj. All your hard work and time sacrificed have been worth it. I am so happy for you. I hope Hui’s passed hers as well.

It was a nice surprise getting an e-Card from Naj just now which she had sent to inform me of the good news.

Again, I’m so happy for you, Naj. It’s time now to move forward. Choke dee na khrap!

Hamilton Reigns In Montreal

Lewis Hamilton - BBC Image

Finally, Lewis Hamilton’s gotten his winner’s trophy. He first entered motor racing at the age of 12, now at 22 he has won his first Formula One race…in Montreal, traditionally a Ferrari circuit. Heidfeld came second followed by Wurz in third.

The race itself was a very eventful one, lots of contacts, one really major crash involving BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica..his whole car just disintegrated and he was saved by the monocoque.

I hope Hamilton will win the 2007 championship. It would be a good change seeing a rookie win.
