Lim Kit Siang Stands By His BMF RCI Request

It was supposed to be a press conference to announce la granouille extraordinaire Zaid Ibrahim’s yet another leap into a political party.

Minutes after the announcement Zaid’s joy was short-lived when U-Turn Mahathir took a swipe at him saying to the press that he hopes Zaid’s stay in DAP would be longer than the ones he had had in other opposition parties.

U-Turn Mahathir has never had anything nice to say about Zaid and I doubt he has anything good to say now either.

Zaid Ibrahim never had anything nice to say about U-Turn Mahathir either. You can read a special section on the old Pharaoh  from Page 215. Don’t bother buying the book now because he now has to like the old Pharaoh. Just get one from someone who plans to return the book for a refund.

Talking about books the best moment of the press conference was when a reporter asked what is DAP owner Lim Kit Siang’s current stand on the Royal Commission of Inquiry for the BMF scandal.

The author of two books blaming the BMF scandal on U-Turn Mahathir went through the roof!

This is how DAP would behave once power is being given to them. We can already see how charged-for-corruption Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been behaving in Penang.

Like father like son.

Anyway, Kit Siang says that he stands by his request for an RCI to he set up to investigate the BMF scandal.

However, he added that an RCI should first be formed to investigate the 1MDB scandal.

Perhaps we should jog the memory of this selectively amnesiac ass.

The Commission of Inquiry set up to investigate the BMF scandal in the 1980s was not given the power to summon witnesses to testify. There was no other investigation done.

1MDB had had its accounts and other documents opened up for the MACC, police, Bank Negara, the PAC (which coincidentally has members of the opposition in it), and had to undergo a forensic audit performed by the Auditor-General’s Office.

There was no “bailout” for the 1MDB as opposed to the BMF scandal which was bailed out by Petronas amounting to RM2.188 billion on top of the RM2.255 billion that vanished through loans to the Carrian Group.

Also Kit Siang, please note that the RM4.443 billion came from the rakyat’s coffers so to speak as money at BBMB was from Petronas to assist the Bumiputera, and Petronas money used to bail BBMB out belonged to the people too.

BMF lent Malaysian money to a foreign company for the purpose of projects outside Malaysia that have nothing to do with Malaysia.

1MDB on the other hand borrowed foreign money for projects in Malaysia. There is no ‘rakyat’s money’ involved as claimed except the ones used to form 1MDB.

And also please remember, the US DOJ never named the current Prime Minister in its investigation documents, only a reference to an ‘MO1’ was made as that person was not directly involved in the investigation.

However, the CIA document specifically linked the BMF scandal to U-Turn Mahathir.

So Kit Siang. It is your credibility that is on the line here. Whether DAP makes it in GE14 depends on whether you would support the formation of a RCI for the BMF scandal without any conditions.

Your son is going to jail for corruption and you are the only one left from your family to ensure that your family continues to be relevant to the rakyat.

Or are you too busy kissing U-Turn Mahathir’s ass and defending him to even think about the end of your credibility as well as your political career as you know it?

Perhaps DAP supporters should start burning all the books written by Kit Siang and ditch he and his family.

There is no use keeping an old man who has no integrity yet is trying to dictate things to others.

Guan Eng Says “I Loathe Penang”

lge

When Ku Nan said that Penang should be made into Federal Territory, Johor-born Penang Chief Minister from Melaka who has been charged in court for corruption, Lim Guan Eng, went on a campaign asking Penangites to love Penang.  The campaign has been ridiculed and scorned by original Penangites.

I made it a point to pen down the fact that Guan Eng was born in Johor Bahru in 1960 and went to the Batu Pahat High School and Melaka High School.

Although he was the Kota Melaka MP for three terms with consecutively reduced majority the Melaka DAP discarded him and his wife Betty like trash.  He came out last in the 2005 Melaka DAP Committee elections.  Even his wife Betty beat him to take the second-last spot. Therefore, while Betty being DAP Supremo Lim Kit Siang’s daughter-in-law was spared being in the last position, Kit Siang’s own son was trash in the eyes of Melaka DAP.

Sensing that he could get trashed in the 2008 general elections if he continued to contest in Kota Melaka, he ran to Penang to contest at the Bagan parliamentary and Air Puteh state seats.

When the Barisan Alternatif won Penang that year, being his father’s son, Guan Eng appointed himself as the Chief Minister to replace Gerakan’s Koh Tsu Koon, bypassing local DAP figures such as Lim Hock Seng and police-wannabe Phee Boon Poh.

To show that he is fair to other races, he appointed Perak-born P Ramasamy also from DAP and Datuk Dr Mansor Othman from PKR.

In 2012, Mansor was alleged to have called Lim Guan Eng “cocky”, “arrogant”, “dictator” and a “tokong” (deity).  Tokong stuck on him well and until now he is being referred to as that by his detractors. With very little tolerance for dissent, Mansor was struck out and replaced by Dato’ Mohd Rashid bin Hasnon after the 2013 general elections.

Since then, Guan Eng has fought tooth and nail with local NGOs such as the Consumers Association of Penang, Georgetown Heritage Action Group, Persatuan Kebajikan dan Penduduk Tamil, Penang Dravidar Kalagam, Malaysia Nambikei Yekkam, Penang Tamil Pathukappu Yekkam and Persatuan Penduduk Penduduk Baru Kawan.  This is due to Guan Eng’s dictatorial behaviour in demolisihing, reclaiming, and developing Penang without giving any due consideration to heritage, environment nor religion.

Not only that, Guan Eng also removed several PKR state assemblymen from Penang GLC positions after they dissentend on the issue of massive offshore reclamation works sanctioned by Guan Eng.

And who is Lim Guan Eng to tell Penangites to love Penang when he himself does not trust the Penangites?

When he could feel that he might be spending several years in jail for corruption, he asked DAP leaders and members to accept Selangor-born Chow Kon Yeow from Kuala Lumpur as the next Chief Minister of Penang when he is jailed.  Aren’t there Penangites in his exco line-up?

There are 11 exco members in Penang:

  1. Lim Guan Eng as the CM is from Johor/Melaka,
  2. Rashid Hasnon, Deputy CM1 is from Johor,
  3. P Ramasamy, Deputy CM2 is from Selangor,
  4. Chow Kon Yeow is from Kuala Lumpur,
  5. Chong Eng is from Pahang,
  6. Phee Boon Poh is from Penang,
  7. Lim Hock Seng is from Penang,
  8. Danny Law is from Perak,
  9. Jagdeep Singh Deo is from Penang,
  10. Abdul Malik Abul Kassim is from Penang,
  11. Dr Afif Bahardin is from Penang.

I am sure many Penang DAP members remember Thum Weng Fatt.

Before Lim Guan Eng could difference between Batu Maung and Batu Kawan, it was Thum Weng Fatt who represented DAP on every single issue in Penang.  He would travel around in his yellow van providing services to the people.  Many Penangites could still identify Thum and the yellow van.

Yet when DAP took over the administration in 2008, Lim Guan Eng and his father made it as if they had done all the hard work.

When Thum suffered from failure of both his kidneys, Penang DAP did not even help him financially.  In the end, Thum sought the assistance of former Gerakan Batu Kawan MP, Datuk Huan Cheng Guan who provided the very ill Thum with RM3,000 monthly.

When Thum passed away, his sister cursed Lim Guan Eng and DAP for not lifting a finger to assist her late brother whom had given his all for his love of DAP.

Maybe it is because Thum was a Penangite.  Which is why 55 percent of his excos are NOT from Penang. Which is why his two deputies are not from Penang. Which is also why his proposed successor is also NOT from Penang.

I guess he doesn’t trust Penang people. I don’t think he loves Penang at all.  Penang is probably a form of merchandise that he could use to enrich himself and only those loyal to him.

That is why his advice for Penangites should love Penang should translate into “Penangites should love whatever Tokong Lim Guan Eng does with Penang.”

And you Penangites still want him around?

Rindukan Zaman Mahathir?

cpo88zjueaa6uym-jpg-large

Benar. Harga rokok Dunhill 20 sekotak kini mencecah RM17.00.

Kita ambil tahun 1993, iaitu zaman pemerintahan Mahathir Mohamad.

Semasa saya menunaikan ibadah Umrah setiap tahun dari tahun 1998 hingga musim Haji 2001, setiap pengendali pakej hanya memenuhi satu buah bas setiap penerbangan.

Coat of Arms of the British East Hindia Company
Coat of Arms of the British East India Company

Of late there have been calls for the return of Pulau Pinang to the sovereign Ruler of Kedah.  This is because since being governed by the DAP, Pulau Pinang (Penang) has been behaving like an autonomous state while chasing out Malays, Indians as well as marginalised Chinese from the island state.

If I were to follow my heart, I would wish for Kedah to reassert its sovereignty over Penang. However, legally that would be disastrous for Malaysia.

The History of the

The proponents for the return of Penang to Kedah base their arguments on the agreement made in 1786 between the British East India Company and the Ruler of Kedah at the time, Sultan Abdullah Mukarram Shah.  During that time, Kedah was already under the Rattanakosin Kingdom established by King Taksin. Kedah was already paying tributes in the form of Gold Flowers to the Kingdom of Siam in 1781 and had accepted the Siamese sovereignty.

In the 1786 agreement, Francis Light was supposed to assist the Kedah ruler in the event that Kedah comes under attack by another power; the British East India Company (BEIC) was not to protect enemies of Kedah (namely the Burmese and Siamese); and BEIC was to pay the Kedah government an annual repariation of 30,000 Spanish Dollars for the lease of Penang.

Tension grew when Francis Light did not inform his superiors in India of the full details of what he had promised to Sultan Abdullah.  In the end, Light was asked to provide Sultan Abdullah with less than what had been requested. The EIC decided to to provide the Sultan with any form of protection and nothing was said of financial repariation.

Light was forced to use the island’s revenue to pay the Sultan but offered only $10,000 Straits Dollars a year for eight years for the island, or $4,000 Straits Dollars a year for so long as the Company occupied the island.

The unamused Sultan then gathered his forces in Prai in late 1790 to take Penang back by force which was defeated by Light. Sultan Abdullah sent his emmissaries Tunku Sharif Muhammad, Tunku Alang Ibrahim and Datuk Penggawa Telibun to negotiate a treaty with Light.

In 1791 a treaty called the Treaty of Friendship and Peace was signed between the BEIC and the Sultan of Kedah and the annual payment of a sum of 6,000 Spanish Dollars was promised to the Sultan for the rights to Penang and the two countries promised “to live in peace by sea and land, to continue as long as the Sun and Moon give light.”  BEIC was to no longer provide protection to Kedah against its enemies.  This treaty supercedes the treaty of 1786. (Dr Cheah Boon Kheng, former lecturer, History Department of the Universiti Sains Malaysia)

In 1800, another treaty was signed between BEIC and Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Shah II, the successor of Sultan Abdullah for the lease of Seberang Prai (called Province Wellesley then) for an annual sum of 4,000 Spanish Dollars that is to continue “as long as the Sun and Moon give light.”

From 1826, the BEIC placed Penang under the Straits Settlements. Subsequently, in 1874 the BEIC was dissolved and as a result of the 1873  East India Stock Dividend Redemption Act the Straits Settlements came under direct British Crown rule via its government in India.

The Brtish Government became the rightful owner of Penang as successor of the BEIC.

Towards The Independence of Malaya

Each state in what was called Malaya were sovereign states up until 31st August 1957 when the Federation of Malaya that existed following the breakdown of the Malayan Union in 1948 ceased to exist.

“Malaya” as it was known then was made up of the Federated Malay States (Selangor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang), the Unfederated Malay States (Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Perlis, Johor), and the Straits Settlements (Penang, Melaka and Singapore).

The discussions leading to the formation of the 1957 Federation of Malaya excluded Singapore in the equation.

During these discussions, both Melaka and Penang were referred to as the Crown Colonies whose people are citizens of Britain. The discussions involved Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Government, the Nine Malay Rulers, and the Alliance government the people had elected to represent them.

In an early stage, it was agreed by both Her Majesty’s Government and the Nine Rulers that the office and person of the Yang DiPertuan Agong and the Queen would jointly administer the Settlements as “equal partners.”  According to this arrangement, the Queen would delegate her sovereign authority to the Yang DiPertuan Agong as the representative of the Queen and the Nine Rulers and that the Melaka and Penang would have a Governor appointed in consultation with the Straits Settlements’ office (CO1030/132(28) dated 16 August 1956).

This would be in line with protecting the Straits Chinese who were British subjects whose representation to the British government expressed fears that if Penang is administered by the independent Malayan government, they would be subjected to discrimination.

The British High Commissioner to Malaya, Sir Donald MacGillivray had already expressed grave doubts as to whether that arrangement would be accepted by the Alliance Party as the latter had wanted all the Settlements involved to be part of the newly independent and self-governing Malaya (CO1030/135 (2) dated 19 July 1956).

UMNO as represented by Tunku Abdul Rahman had also proposed that the provisions for Malay reservations in the proposed Constitution should be applied to Penang and Melaka.  However, this was met with stiff resistance by the British government. The Secretary of State said the proposal could “aggravate racial feeling”, adding that during the 180 years of British rule in the Settlements there had been no racial discrimination (CO1030/496 (8) dated 14 May 1957).

A compromise was proposed by the Rulers’ legal adviser, Neil Lawson, who suggested that one of the clauses on land reservations to include a provision to allow the State governments to set up a trust to buy land for the settlement of the Malays. This compromise was accepted by the meeting. This proposal was contained in Article 88 of the Federal Constitution allowing Parliament to modify the articles on land (Articles 83 – 87) for application in Penang and Melaka (Constitutional Proposals for Malaya, Cmnd, 210, op.cit).

If you noticed in all the above meetings not once did the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sir Badlishah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah, discussed the return of Penang to Kedah as well as asserting His Royal Highness’s sovereign authority over Penang.

This demonstrates that Pulau Pinang and Seberang Perai were no longer legally part of the Kedah Sultanate.

However, what also almost happened was the return of Melaka to the Dutch.

On 16 May 1957, a newspaper Straits Budget reported that the Malayan Party under Tan Kee Gak had planned to ask the British Secretary of State about the Anglo-Dutch Treaty of 1824 in respect of Melaka.  According to Tan Kee Gak, Britain was planning to abandon Melaka to Malaya and as a contracting party was in breach of the said contract.  Therefore, Melaka should be returned to the Dutch instead of be part of an independent Malaya.

The Colonial Office viewed the report seriously and sought the advice of the Foreign Office which in turn sought the help of the government of the Netherlands to renounce such a claim explicitly (CO1030/439 (79) dated 20 June 1957).

Summary

I have no reservation whatsoever in expressing my disgust at the way Lim Guan Eng runs Penang and uses it in a very unMalaysian way.  But I doubt there is any legal avenue that would allow for the return of Penang to Kedah that would be undamaging to the country in its present legal form.  It would allow for parties in Melaka perhaps to ask Netherlands to reconsider claiming the state as its own based on the 1824 treaty, and Manila would have a legal precedence to follow in its claim on Sabah.

Not once did the Sultan Of Kedah from the days of Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin Halim Shah II through Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah have ever staked a claim on Penang.  This is simply because the treaties of 1791 and 1800 have superceded the one made in 1786.

And Penang’s current form is because of the 1957 Federal Constitution, cemented further by the 1963 Federal Constitution, agreed upon by all including by the Nine Malay Rulers without a single objection to its sovereign status. So how is it that Penang should be taken back by Kedah?

If the current claim is about the maruah (face/pride) of the Kedah Sultanate or about the pride of the Malays, that is just the mouth talking before the brain could think.

It would be nice to live dreaming about the day Penang becomes another district of Kedah but that is what the heart wishes. It is the legal and constitutional implications that have to be thought of thoroughly.

Terima Kasih, Lim Kit Siang

My wife knows how I often thank people – be it a hotel cleaner, the toll booth operator manning the TouchNGo reload booth, the waiter at some stall.

This time I would like to thank Lim Kit Siang for being the proud politician that he has alwas been – the self-glorification by a man who thinks very greatly of himself, his works, his speeches, his essays; that he shares all these with us online that it feels like you are walking through a Presidential library of a man never destined to preside over or administer a country.

And it all began with Lim Kit Siang’s admission of willingness to work with the Barisan Nasional. One would wonder what has made this proud man discard his pride to go back on his struggles just to remain relevant?

It does sound like U-Turn Mahathir and I dare say it also partly has to do with trying to save his son from an imminent prison sentence for corrupt practices while being a Chief Minister.

The other part, in my opinion, is because of the recent revelation of CIA documents linking U-Turn Mahathir to the Bumiputera Malaysia Finance scandal of 1983 that saw billions of Ringgits missing and resulted in the death of a senior bank auditor for knowing too much, and the suicide committed by the Carrian Group’s adviser.

It was during U-Turn Mahathir’s watch, two years into his stewardship, that Bank Bumiputera which was a government-owned bank formed with the purpose of assisting unfortunate Bumiputeras lost that huge sum of money.

And according to the CIA document it was impossible for Mahathir’s cabinet to not know anything about the outflow of such a huge amount of money in the form of loans given to a non-Bumiputera associate of his in Hong Kong.

Mahathir, like in the PKFZ hearing, has denied any knowledge of the missing money.

For those born in the mid-1970s and have no recollection whatsoever of the BMF scandal can watch this awesome documentary which has none other than the self-admiring Lim Kit Siang talking about the scandal.

Unfortunate for Kit Siang, he cannot claim ignorance of what he had said about the scandal be it on camera or online.

Like I said, Kit Siang is so proud of himself, his works, speeches etc., that he shares them all with us online. And there are about ten posts related to the BMF scandal itself.

Among the more interesting posts is one titled ‘DAP reiterates call for Royal Commission of Inquiry into the $2.5 billion BMF Scandal after $8 billion suit against BBMB in California Federal Court.’

That article dated 29th February 1992 has an interesting ending where Kit Siang asked the following:

“If the Government leaders have nothing to hide, why is the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, and the present Cabinet so adamant in refusing to commissioning a full public inquiry into the BMF scandal?”

I would like to know too! Why?

And I would also like to know if Kit Siang now knows that with the CIA exposé there is absolutely no way that he could work with Mahathir, deny ever knowing about the BMF scandal, and sacrifice the MP allowances that is helping him with sustaining his lifestyle in the next general elections?

This is one lump of dirt that even Kit Siang cannot sweep underneath his carpet. He knows that if he continues to work with U-Turn Mahathir, his political career would be as dead as a Dodo.

So he makes a U-turn and decides to work with the Barisan Nasional to rid the country of the biggest kleptomaniac of all – U-Turn Mahathir s/o Mohamad.

Thank you again Lim Kit Siang, for the reading material. You really made my day.

A Police Report

I lodged a police report today on an exposé made by the DC Leaks not too long ago.

I finally got to read and was alarmed by it yesterday and quickly got in touch with a friend and we decided on lodging a police report

Although I know that the police has begun an investigation into the links, I saw a similar pattern that needs to be investigated. The report among others is to look into the authenticity of the document as well as to enable the police to see the similar patterns and tie them together.

With the help of a good journalist friend we had some journalists covering the ‘event’ and we were fair as we allowed representation from whichever side of the fence to ask questions.

In DC Leaks (photo at the top), there was an internal OSF document where Premesh Chandran was listed as the Chairman of the advisory committee for Malaysia to OSF.

Premesh is the co-founder and current CEO of online portal Malaysiakini. His name appearing in the OSF document suggests that he is, at the time of the document being published, colluding with Soros to bring about a forced and undemocratic change of government.

The document’s title is Shared Frameworks Proposed Contributions to 2014-2017 Strategies. Obviously funds are still coming in to effect change in Malaysia as the previous general elections was in 2013.

And the Malaysian Chair for OSF’s Southeast Asia Initiative is interested in the topic of ‘election integrity.’

OSF documents also show that they admit funding and controlling the International Renaissance Front (IRF) based in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, which is acknowledged as the key mover to Ukraine’s bloody 2014 revolution.

The 2014 revolution led to hundreds of deaths and missing people in the rallies and led to civil war and breakup of Ukraine – which has killed another 8,000 people and still continuing. This Ukraine was also led to the shooting down of our MH17.
In that same document, it stated that in Malaysia, the Chair of the OSF advisory committee is the founder of MalaysiaKini (which OSF indirectly owns and control 29% shares).

Interestingly, YM Tunku Abdul Aziz also pointed out that the Red Bean Army is also funded by foreigners.

Tunku Aziz, who was DAP national vice-chairman from August 2008 until he resigned in disgust in May 2012 would certainly have detailed inside information of DAP and their RBA.

The DAP has always disassociated itself from the RBA. However, Wechat or whatsapp voice chat admission supposedly from the Kedah DAP Youth Chief Tan Jia Hao (JH Tan) shows an admission that the Red Bean Army (RBA) cybertroopers are indeed DAP and Pakatan’s troops on social media for the purpose of attacking BN supporters which they call Chow Kows or running dogs and will not attack their own people.

The conversation seems to be about Mr Tan clarifying to his friend on why a certain person was attacked by the RBA recently – where he claims that the RBA has caused great harm to that person.

To be fair to all parties, it is imperative that the police probe and investigate these links.

Let me say this: if it is change that you want, do so in a democratic manner. The last thing you should do is to support organisations that are themselves the Chow Kow for foreigners.

That if true, in my opinion, is bordering treason. And I shall not stand and watch my country get run by puppets of foreign powers.

Jangan Dok Muhong La

Mahathir memang kuat berbohong.

Dah tua-tua pun masih lagi nak buat dosa.

Pengemis Jalanan

Bukannya agama rasmi.

UMNO 70 – Weary Or Youthful?

umno

UMNO is 70 this year.

Whether we like it or not, communal politics shall remain the main feature of Malaysian politics.  Although the Federal Constitution places Bahasa Malaysia as the official language and medium of instruction, MCA, MIC and other communal parties including the self-proclaimed multiracial party DAP will continue to fight for the existence of the vernacular schools which is among the reasons this country continues to produce an ever divisive society.

And although the Federal Constitution places Islam as the religion of this blessed nation and although the Federal Constitution also gives the right to for each religion to manage its own affairs, we get BN component parties questioning the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act amendments which does not affect them and claims that it would lead to double jeopardy – a claim so ludicrous that it makes me wonder how these lawmakers even made it to Parliament not knowing that Article 121(1)(1A) of the Federal Constitution stated clearly that neither the High Court of Malaya and the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak have any jurisdiction in any matters that are within the jurisdiction of the Syariah Court.

And DAP as well as its puppets (PAN, Pribumi, PKR, BERSIH) will hitch a ride on this communal collision course to ensure that the wagon cannot be steered to safety.

The basic question that was raised during the Pemuda and Puteri meetings revolved around the rising cost of living.  Ridzuan Ahmad (Pemuda UMNO) from Negeri Sembilan quoted a makcik selling pisang goreng who lamented the rise of fuel prices as well as the smuggling of cooking oil to foreign countries that has caused the removal of subsidies. Norsarfinaz Mohd Azman (Puteri UMNO) of Pahang told the government not to sugar-coat the economic situation from the public.

While the questions above are valid questions, what has the Pemuda as well as Puteri UMNO delegates done to understand and explain things to the masses?

As a layman and a non-UMNO person, I can proudly say I have explained this better to the masses.  Therefore, I find it odd that even with a strong Information Machinery, Pemuda UMNO finds it difficult to explain to the masses about the benefits of the withdrawal of subsidies.  On the question of hoarding and smuggling of cooking oil, it is not an easy task to prevent smuggling.  Nevertheless, one cannot expect the government agencies to achieve success if the public does not cooperate in reporting such activities to them.

I don’t think the government has sugar-coated anything. In his Budget 2017 speech, Najib Razak spoke about the drastic reduction in earnings from the oil and gas industry.  This has been made up by the introduction of the GST which saw an increase in the number of businesses having to pay taxes to the government as opposed to them collecting tax from their customers but under-declare earnings to the government previously.  Furthermore, household essentials are mostly zero-rated items under the GST scheme thus there is no tax on most food items nor should it affect households.

If it does, then again it becomes the responsibility of the masses to assist government agencies by reporting such occurrence to them.  Has this been conveyed to the voters?

We can all whine about the cost of living but what have we, especially those in UMNO done, to actually come up with solutions to accompany the problems that they put forth to the party management?  Is it fair that the party management is given the burden to think of solutions but the whole party bathe in all the glory when a solution works without the participation of the grassroots?

Even the non-Malay and non-UMNO Miss Lim Sian See could explain things better than most!

Perhaps, in this final stretch before the 14th General Elections, party wings organise workshops on improving the standards of living rather than go on trips or exclusive makan-makan events.

However, on my Facebook this morning I received a message from a friend asking is the Ringgit really bad and are the rakyat truly suffering?  This was the message:

UMNO party members should be more selfless.  I watched the commentary by one of the panelists on RTM1 just before Najib Razak delivered his speech and it was an interesting piece when he said the Opposition is more on the ground and stand on the a level platform as do the people in the rural areas, while UMNO members spend more time at high-end coffee places and surround themselves with ‘loyalists.’

Najib Razak also touched on this in his speech:

Such is one of the selfless acts that UMNO members should emulate.  Najib Razak rightfully gave respect to Wanita UMNO which forms the backbone of UMNO – with 1.3 million members from a total of 3.5 million members nationwide.  Pemuda UMNO has about 600,000 while Puteri UMNO has close to 400,000.

However, questioning the race of a GLC boss by a Wanita UMNO member, was not something smart.  Arul Kanda is not a Malay although he is a Muslim, but it is his expertise that is sought to handle GLCs in the manner that they should be.  We cannot just appoint someone just because he is a Malay and expect things to be rosy.  Look at FGV, for instance. I shan’t say more.

Najib Razak also pointed out on how the government has provided medical treatment to its people for next to free. Transformation Centres that run daily until 10pm.  And for the benefit of Ridzuan Ahmad and Norsarfinaz, the government provides RM200 in assistance per person for the 400,000 small-scale farmers and rubber tappers during the monsoon season.  On top of that, the 60,000 fishermen in Malaysia are being given a special allowance of between RM200 to RM300 per month for the whole year.  For padi farmers, RM1.3 billion is provided to subsidise the purchase of seedlings, fertilisers and price of rice to make them more competitive.

Yet, people still call the government zalim not knowing what the word really means.

The zalim are the ones who, when in office, make solemn oaths proclaiming Wallahi Watallahi Wabillahi which all literally mean ‘and by Allah.’  When they are sworn into office, in Parliament as cabinet members, they took an oath Wallahi Wabtallahi Wabillahi to protect government secrets and not disclose them to anyone under whatever circumstance; then as party leaders they swore Wallahi Watallahi Wabillahi to protect the sanctity of Islam as the religion of the Federation, and uphold the Malay rights as leaders of UMNO, yet when they fail to fulfil their self-interests, they leave the party and take sides with those who actually attack Islam and the Malay rights.

Those, as Najib Razak mentioned in his speech, are munafiks (hypocrites).

At 70, UMNO is still young. It shall remain youthful for as long as it is able to draw the support of the younger generation and continues to not only listen to grouses but able to provide solutions as well as explain well to the masses.  It is those weary ones, who from the start never align their aspirations with that of UMNO’s (putting self-interest forward) who will cause UMNO to feel weary.

These are the people who would just dump everything, leave, and then attack UMNO out of frustration.

As Najib Razak quoted of the national literary figure Usman Awang and the Melayu-Riau literary figure Tenas Affendy at the beginning of his speech:

Melayu itu orang yang bijaksana,

Budi bahasanya tidak terkira,

Kurang ajarnya masih beralas dan bersantun,

Kalau berkelahi biarlah cara Melayu,

Kalau menikam pula, pun dengan berpantun,

Walau menyanggah dikuntum senyum.

Kalau merayu dan meminta,

Hendaklah pada yang kasih dan sudi memberi.

Mencontoh biarlah pada yang senonoh,

Berteladan pada yang sepadan.

Adil menjadi hakim,

Amanah dalam bersumpah,

Sekalipun begitu,… walau watak Melayu menolak permusuhan, setia dan sabar tiada sempadan,…

biar berkecai tulang,… hatta hancurnya badan,…

pantang pendekar, meninggalkan gelanggang!!!

Infidel Castro

A Wikipedia image of a Cuban propaganda poster proclaiming a quote from Castro: “Luchar contra lo imposible y vencer” (“To fight against the impossible and win”)

When Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz passed on three days ago, the world gave the event a mixed reaction.  Today, for the first time in 13 years Cuban dissidents have called off their weekly march, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was “one of the most iconic personalities of the 20th century. India mourns the loss of a great friend” while Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto called Castro a friend of Mexico, who had promoted bilateral relationships based on “respect, dialogue and solidarity.”

Although Malaysia has had 41 years of diplomatic relationship with Cuba, it was only in the recent decade that Malaysians have been allowed to travel to the island country.

Fidel Castro officially handed over Presidential power to his brother Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz in February 2008.  Raul was made the President of the Council of State in 2006 due to his brother’s illness.  Although Raúl sought advice from Fidel from time-to-time, the elder Castro never usurped his brother’s power and was loyal to the government of the Communist Party of Cuba till his death.

That was Fidel Castro, an iconic revolutionary leader and a great orator who stood against the world.

We used to have a similar leader in Malaysia. I call him Infidel Castro, a name I saw coined on social media.  While Fidel stood tall for his people (rightfully or wrongfully depending on the side of the fence your perspective is), Infidel is only interested in having power to enrich his family and friends no matter the cost.

Fidel was true to his struggle and principles.  Infidel…as the word itself means – one who denounces his religion or in this case, his political beliefs, or adheres to the religion or political beliefs of others.  He has no trouble, as the Malays would say, to lick his own spit and do a 180 on his principles. Principles – something other leaders have.  Which is Infidel’s way of saying he has not a scintilla of political or personal integrity in any of the unfortunate cells that make up his wretched physical body.

Even his old friend and a former Menteri Besar of Kedah Osman Aroff is saddened by Infidel Castro’s behaviour.  Osman related how Infidel once said, “It is because of UMNO that I am the Prime Minister, and don’t leave the party no matter what happens.”

For 22 years he manipulated the system just to stay in power, using the machinery of what was once his party, only to claim that he held on to power without the assistance of that political party but instead due to the bickerings the opposition had had among themselves.  In other words, he is now asking the opposition parties to bond so he could remain relevant.

Perhaps there is a reason for his infidelity – the moment he saw Najib Razak tumbling into what seemed to him as a bottomless abyss, he knew that if he was to stay on with UMNO and the opposition forms the government, he would be tried for his abuse of power and as described by writer Barry Wain, the squandering of RM100 billion of the rakyat‘s monies stashed in public funds.

Thus, by forging a political relationship with and being part of the opposition, Infidel hopes that all will be forgotten and forgiven.  Such is how a simple mind works.

But all is not forgotten.  Infidel and his aboriginal party has not been invited to the DAP’s national convention for 2016.  Perhaps DAP is trying to tell Infidel that in the opposition he is nothing and can no longer call the shots.  Of course, one who has been slapped in public will never admit to sulk after.

Neither has he been forgiven…and he is now likened to a ‘snake’ and ‘pimp‘ by a DAP delegate in Pulau Pinang.  Such an apt description for an Infidel:

Fidel Castro is dead and gone at 90.  Infidel Castro at 91 is still dishing out lies, unrepentantly, and still not afraid of those intangible to him – God, heaven, hell, good deeds and sins.
