Mahathir’s Cuckoo Administration

...dan gila...
…dan gila…

I was in stitches when I read Mahathir’s latest posting ‘Pentadbiran Kuku Besi‘.  He wrote as if he had never oppress the people during his 22 years as the Premier.  He is fortunate that the Internet was still in its infancy and was only introduced to the masses in the mid 1990s, and Google only came online using its own domain on the 4th September 1998, two days after Anwar Ibrahim was sacked from all government posts as well as from UMNO.  Prior to that Google was hosted under stanford.edu.  Not many of those below the age of 35 could remember the oppression Malaysians were subjected to.

And what has Mahathir written this time?

1. When receiving the membership form to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, some say that they have been threatened by UMNO dan Najib’s government.

2. Various threats were made including not being able to receive BR1M, expulsion from UMNO, removal from Government and government agencies posts, not being given contracts, scholarships would be withdrawn or not given, banks will demand for earlier payments or not give loans.

3. But they prefer to be oppressed knowing, that with their participation in PPBM and vote for it in GE14, the country would enjoy better benefits.

“Rasa Utara” a restaurant chain serving, in my opinion, less-than-delicious food, now has taken up advertising spaces on Mahathir’s blog

4. They say that despite the pressure they would still join PPBM. And they would attempt to get more Bumiputeras including UMNO members to join PPBM.

5. The struggle to them means the willingness to face hurdles. The struggle is meaningless if it is just a walk in the park.

I am quite perplexed by this statement.  Do people who want to join Pribumi actually make prior announcement to UMNO that they would be joining Pribumi?  Or would they just fill in the membership form and submit to Pribumi without bothering to inform UMNO?

As far as my memory serves me, not one person has ever announced his or her joining another political party unless it is arranged by the receiving party for publicity.  And likewise when the situation is reversed.  So, why would there be threats and so on if no one knows of their intention?

Not Being Given BR1M

In my opinion, it is the Pribumis who should not complain about not receiving BR1M.  The reason for this is that according to another Pribumi named Mahathir, the rakyat should not rely too much on handouts from the government. Mahathir also said it would be a big mistake for the government to assume that it would get the support of the BR1M recipients just by giving the the handouts.  Therefore, the Pribumis should not complain to Mahathir about the possibility of being removed from the BR1M recipients list.

In reality, millions of Opposition supporters continue to form lines just to collect BR1M handouts. Students continue to enjoy their scholarships despite going on the street to demonstrate against the oppressive government that continues to give them monthly scholarship money.  And perhaps about 50 percent of civil servants who support the Opposition still continue to go to work and none have lost their job or got demoted for doing so.

And many merit-less Bumiputera contractors still get government contracts despite supporting the Opposition.

Expulsion From UMNO

This is the other reason for me to laugh out loud. If you are already a Pribumi, why bother about being expelled from UMNO?  You cannot have the cake and eat it too!

6. Verily Najib is also desperate to break my spirit. Not only have my police escorts been withdrawn but now even my officers and cooks are being transferred. All my associates are being harrassed and threatened by the Inland Revenue Board especially those who have businesses. If all taxes have been paid there will be additional taxes imposed on them.

For those uninformed, the Office of Tun Dr Mahathir is under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department.  This means, the administration, staffing, budget and others come under the administration of the Prime Minister’s Department.  In short, the salaries of the staff of the Office of Tun Dr Mahathir come from the Prime Minister’s Department.

Who is the Prime Minister? (CLUE: HE IS NOT A KUTTY)

Antara agensi-agensi di bawah Jabatan Perdana Menteri
Among the agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department (see No.49)

Isn’t it the prerogative of the Prime Minister’s Department to transfer in or out, any personnel from any of the agencies under its purview, also accord, reduce or withdraw any privileges given using the budget of the Prime Minister’s Department?

There is an old adage: don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Even if there are Mahathir’s associates who are being harrassed by the Inland Revenue Board it could mean that previously they were only paying so much in the form of sales and services tax (SST) when under Mahathir and could no longer under-declare their earnings and have to pay higher taxes under the Goods and Services tax (GST) scheme introduced under Najib.  All those who used to cheat the government and the rakyat of their earnings previously are now caught with their pants down!

7. Proton people are not allowed to speak to me, and my business associates are not allowed to approach Proton. It is Najib’s intention that Proton goes bankrupt and can be sold to foreigners for cheap.

8. My name can no longer be associated with Proton. Proton will be sold 100% to foreigners so the nationa car industry would be decimated. Only imported cars will be allowed to be sold in Malaysia. Nothing that I started will be allowed to exist. Let the local industries fail as long as Najib is satisfied.

Proton.  A company that was set up in 1983 to start the national automobile industry.

After 33 years and 2.8 jmillion cars sold, Proton is still a non-government-linked company that still needs the assistance of the government even with the protectionist policy that the government had set.  For 33 years the government has given Proton RM13.9 billion assistance in the form of grants and forgone taxes just to assist Proton to become independent .  Yet, due to porr management decisions, the sale of Proton-made cars dropped from approximately 215,000 in 2011 to 102,175 in 2015 – an average sale of 8,514 units per month.  At the end of March 2016 Proton still had about 30,000 units of cars lying idle and unsold!

With that, Proton once again asked for assistance from the government led by Najib Razak so that 12,000 Proton employees and 50,000 employees of the various Proton vendor companies do not lose their job.  In your opinion, is it right for the government to use taxpayers’ money (using the favourite Opposition catchphrase) to assist a handicapped company?

Well, in the end Najib Razak’s oppressive government agreed to help Proton for the sake of the 62,000 odd direct and indirect employees by giving a RM1.5 billion soft loan.

And who is the owner amongst owners of this severely handicapped company that has no shame asking for help from Najib Razak’s oppressive government?

Senarai para pemilik Proton Holdings Berhad
List of owners of Proton Holdings Berhad

Which Bangladeshi is that whose name is at the top of the list who said that his name can no longer be associated with Proton but got the RM1.5 billion injection from Najib Razak’s oppressive government?  Does it make sense for the government to pump in more money into Proton just to kill it?  Why bother spend even a single Sen if you do not want it to work out?  And how can he say that Proton people are not allowed to speak to him?  Isn’t he one of the owners?

…and businessmen associated with me can no longer do business with Proton…

By this statement, is this a form of admission that Mahathir has been giving his cronies contracts from Proton?  Does this have any role in making this company severely handicapped?

9. Verily, many Malaysian are afraid of trouncing by Najib’s government. This is Najib’s democracy.

10. I will not give up and I believe Malaysians have the will to topple Najib’s iron fist government. They are not afraid. The more the pressure the more the hatred they have for Najib and his government. All are ashamed of the P.M. who has been accused and believed by the whole world to have siphoned billions of the rakyat’s money.

11. The rakyat and I are aware of the intention of the new security law. It is not about foreign terrorism because we have adequate laws for that. Its intention is to break the struggle against Najib.

12. This law that was never assented to by the Yang DiPertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers  accords Najib the power to declare security areas and with that anyone could be held in detention without trial. This is worse than the ISA.

13. If anyone is killed, be it a member of the security forces or the civilian, there will not be any inquest (a magistrate’s examination into the cause of death) held. And family of the deceased will not be able to bring the matter to the courts to seek justice.

14. Actually laws like this cannot be passed without the signature of the SPB Yang diPertuan Agong. But Najib is not one who cares for the law or its regulations. He is the PM and believes that he has immunity from prosecution. His pet the Attorney-General will make sure of that.

15. These are all signs that there is no more democracy in Malaysia. There is only an iron-fisted rule, a dictatorship.

16. The rakyat will protest the destruction of democracy in this beloved nation through a legal process. InsyaAllah the rakyat’s determination will see to the end of Najib’s wrong-doings.

The National Security Council Act that was recently passed was drafted to enable all assets under the various government agencies to be unified under one command that is the National Security Council. It is not just for use in response to terrorist acts but also in times of disasters.  We have seen how poor the inter-agencies coordination was during the floods of Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu.  The main reason for this weakness was the absence of a unified command to coordinate efforts using assets of the various government agencies.

The power to declare security areas is not something new.  Under Section 31 of the Police Act, 1967, designated police officers have the power to instruct any person to stay indoors while Section 3(1) Public Order (Preservation) Act, 1958, gives the power to the Minister of Home Affairs to declare whichever area that in the view of the Minister should be declared as a security area.  However, Section 18 of the National Security Council Act, 2016 gives this power to the Prime Minister and no longer the Minister of Home Affairs to declare security areas AS ADVISED BY THE COUNCIL.  This means that the Prime Minister CANNOT declare any security area unilaterally.  Is this not better than ONE person making all the decisions without weighing all the inputs from practitioners who are more well-versed in the matters of national security?

Do not equate the power to declare security areas to the power to declare an emergency which remains the power of the Yang DiPertuan Agong, not the Prime Minister’s, nor is it the power of the National Security Council.

And Mahathir should not pay dumb – he is the person who destroyed democracy; even the powers of the Yang DiPertuan Agong to pass or not a bill of law was removed by him and caused the bills that affect other than the power to declare an emergency, the Institution of the Rulers, the position of the Bumiputera and Bahasa Malaysia, to pass without having been assented by the Yang DiPertuan Agong.

Mahathir should realise, he is living in sunset. Enough of lies.

Pentadbiran Cuckoo Mahathir

Disingkir Dari UMNO

Ini satu lagi sebab kenapa saya katakan Mahathir menulis lawak jenaka. Kalau dah nak jadi orang Pribumi, buat apa nak dikisahkan lagi keahlian dalam parti UMNO?  Takkanlah rindukan UMNO tetapi nak jadi makhluk Pribumi juga?

Sedarlah sikit usia dah lanjut, Mahathir. Cukup-cukuplah membohong.

Constitutionally Speaking

parlimen

The Opposition (DAP, BERSIH, Pribumi) is just recycling old issues.  No matter if the issue raised had been clarified or debunked countless times before.  I did not include PAN in the parentheses because it would be ridiculous in my opinion to even consider it a political party given the cartoon characters that fills its ranks.  Not even BERSIH’s convoy in Penang could garner more than 50 supporters to join its convoy in that staunch Opposition state!  A sign of times, perhaps?  Issues like 1MDB is being played over and over again, especially by Mahathir’s Das Schwarze Korps but hardly gained any traction as people are bored of the same story being played repeatedly with goalposts changed to suit the message they try to send.

So, what should they do next?

Enter His Majesty Yang DiPertuan Agong.

Mahathir's Das Schwarze Korps creating a perception that the YDP Agong has the power to dismiss the Prime Minister
Mahathir’s Das Schwarze Korps creating a perception that the YDP Agong has the power to dismiss the Prime Minister

Before the independence of Malaya in August 1957, there were three parties to the discussion on the subject of the independence.  They were the Malay Rulers of the Federated and Unfederated Malay States; the British who, by virtue of treaties signed with the Malay Rulers, helped administer their respective state; and the Alliance party (UMNO, MCA and MIC) who, by virtue of winning all but one seat in the 1955 General Elections was the de facto voice of the people of Malaya.  Save for Pulau Pinang and Melaka, the rest of the states in Malaya were NOT colonies of Great Britain.  Therefore, the discussion was about the transfer of administrative powers from the representatives of the Malay Rulers (the British) to a government formed through the elections by the people of Malaya.  31st August 1957 was an independence from feudalism, not colonialism. (Read SeaDemon: The Road to Merdeka – Whom Did the British Prefer?, 17 September 2011)

You must understand that while the Rulers retain some of their functions, the government is run by those elected by the rakyat. This was done to ensure that democracy in then-Malaya was not to do away with the Malay Rulers.  Therefore, Mahathir’s attempt to get the Rulers Institution to dismiss Najib Razak for someone else as the Prime Minister, there is nothing that any of the Rulers could democratically do.  The Rulers, although above the law, are not above the Federal Constitution.  Like with the British advisors, there is virtually nothing that the Rulers could do without the advise of the Prime Minister or the Menteris Besar to affect the state or Federal administration except in a few circumstances.

Article 43(2) of the Federal Constitution states that:

2) The Cabinet shall be appointed as follows, that is to say:

(a) The Yang di-Pertuan Agong shall first appoint as Perdana Menteri (Prime Minister) to preside over the Cabinet a member of the House of Representatives who in his judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of that House; and

(b) He shall on the advice of the Prime Minister appoint other Menteri (Ministers) from among the members of either House of Parliament

What it says here is in order to have a functioning government, the Yang DiPertuan Agong would have to first appoint a Prime Minister who in his judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the Dewan Rakyat members. The term ‘who in his judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of that House‘ here is critically important and we shall visit this aspect later.  This term and Article must be read together with Article 40(2) of the Federal Constitution that says:

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong may act in his discretion in the performance of the following functions, that is to say:

(a) the appointment of a Prime Minister;

(b) the withholding of consent to a request for the dissolution of Parliament;

What it means according to Article 40(2) of the Federal Constitution is that the Yang DiPertuan Agong has the discretionary power to appoint the Prime Minister subject to his own discretion but limited to the ambit of Article 43(2) of the same.  In Article 43(5) states that only Ministers can be dismissed by the Yang DiPertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister:

Subject to Clause (4), Ministers other than the Prime Minister shall hold office during the pleasure of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, unless the appointment of any Minister shall have been revoked by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister but any Minister may resign his office.

In Teh Chang Poh vs PP (1979 – 1 MLJ 50) William John Kenneth Diplock (Lord Diplock) opined the following:

Although this, like other powers under the Constitution, is conferred nominally upon the Yang di-Pertuan Agong by virtue of his office as the Supreme Head of the Federation and is expressed to be exercisable if he is satisfied of a particular matter, his functions are those of a constitutional monarch and except on matters that do not concern the instant appeal, he does not exercise any of his functions under the Constitution on his own initiative but is required by Article 40(1) to act in accordance with the advice of the Cabinet. So when one finds in the Constitution itself or in a Federal law powers conferred upon the Yang di-Pertuan Agong that are expressed to be exercisable if he is of opinion or is satisfied that a particular state of affair exists or that particular action is necessary, the reference to his opinion or satisfaction is in reality a reference to the collective opinion or satisfaction of the members of the Cabinet, or the opinion or satisfaction of a particular Minister to whom the Cabinet have delegated their authority to give advice upon the matter in question.

Therefore, Constitutionally-speaking, the Prime Minister can only be replaced in only two circumstances:

  1. when the Prime Minister loses the majority of support of the members of the Dewan Rakyat (therefore the appointment of a new one would have to be based on the judgment of His Majesty the Yang DiPertuan Agong that has the most majority support of the Dewan, or,
  2. A General Election causes the Prime Minister to lose his parliamentary seat, and His Majesty would have to appoint one before appointing a Cabinet as prescribed in Article 43(2)(a).

The Yang DiPertuan Agong therefore cannot act ultra vires.

So, why is Mahathir’s Schwarze Korps so eager in pushing the idea of the Rulers Institution being able to remove a Prime Minister?

The answer is: propaganda that only zombies would accept at face value.

Just like the 1MDB issue where Schwarze Dummkopf A Kadir Jasin et al are saying that the investigation into the case has stopped altogether, whereas the Inspector-General of Police had announced on 19 August 2016 that the investigation into the 1MDB issue has entered its second phase!

I guess Mahathir’s interest in ousting Najib Razak is just so one of his Pribumis could be appointed as the Prime Minister. For that reason he is trying to make a pact with Anwar Ibrahim’s PKR. He knows that his lie about the powers of the Agong to remove Najib Razak will soon be debunked, and that it is just noise – no substance.  Therefore, he would need to work with PKR, DAP and jumpers from the BN to oust Najib Razak in accordance with Article 43(2)(a).

However, despite declaring that Muhyiddin would become the Prime Minister if the Opposition wins, we all know that the protem President of Parti Pribumi would never make it as the Prime Minister.  Muhyiddin has far too many baggages that would be easy to pick on.  His son Mukhriz is the favourite contender. He said so HERE.

Mahathir's confession that he wants his son Mukhriz to become the PM instead of Muhyiddin

Well Muhyiddin, you have been had!

Sabah: Stashed Water

I still remember reading the above article when I was doing a search on water woes almost four years ago.  53 years after the formation of Malaysia we still have places that have no regular treated water supply. Hence, I find it disgusting that RM114 million in cash was found stashed in a house in Sabah by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission recently which does not include the ones that are still stashed in five vaults that are yet to be opened.

According to this portal called Anti-Fitnah Sabah the latest bust by the MACC is related to the Sabah water project that commenced in 2010 costing the Federal Government RM3.3 billion under the purview of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (Kementerian Kemajuan Luar Bandar dan Wilayah or KKLW).

The project was executed and implemented by the KKLW with very minimal participation of the Sabah Water Department (Jabatan Air Sabah or JAS) whose role was to prepare through a limited tender process 10 local companies to carry out the project.

These companies are controlled by the Director and Deputy Director of the JAS. They are Ag Mohd Tahir bin Mohd Talib and Ir Teo Chee Kong respectively. Ag Mohd Tahir IS NOT the Treasurer for UMNO Bahagian Kimanis as claimed by a certain disgruntled menopausal whining auntie in Perak. That would be Datuk Rizal @ Raymond Godfrey Abdullah, whom I seriously hope would sue the auntie.

Although the Sabah State Government had requested for the funds that is channeled through the KKLW to be channeled through the State Treasury, the request was never approved.

Now how many water projects under the KKLW has there been? Although I’ve taken the liberty to post some screenshots of the projects here, thanks to a world wide web friend but you can also see the documents on a public domain.

Now, that is a lot of projects and they go back as far as 2011. Who was the Minister for KKLW then? Shafie Apdal. He was minister from 10th April 2009 until his removal in the 29th July 2015. Is he involved? I don’t know. Let us see the outcome of the MACC investigation but the Anti-Fitnah Sabah blog surely allows us an insight into the goings-on in Sabah.

RM114 million is a lot of money. You could finance at least 20 candidates in a general election.

This is going to be interesting indeed.

Water: Azmin Should Stop Blaming Others

Mengapa? Why?
Mengapa? Why?

For the umpteenth time, the Petaling district in Selangor have to face waterless days because someone decided the rivers are the best place to dump chemical wastes.  What has the Selangor state government done about it? Apart from blaming the Department of Environment, the Menteri Besar, Azmin Ali has done nothing.

air

Investigation by the Selangor water authority has traced the pollution to its source and not only have taken water samples from the alleged source, but even named the source.  Yet, Azmin chose to blame the Department of Environment for being slow in acting against the perpetrator citing that the Selangor Water Management Board has no authority to act.

Therefore, let me introduce this seemingly alien State Enactment to the clueless Menteri Besar:

Selangor Water Management Board Enactment, 1999
Selangor Water Management Board Enactment, 1999

There are powers accorded to the Board that the state government.  Section 40(1) of the Enactment states that the Board has the responsibility to arrange and control all water resources. This includes buffer development, the management, use and the conservation of water sources while Section 41(3)(d) the Board is allowed to take whatever steps deemed necessary to protect water from contamination and the improvement of its quality. Which part of the Enactment that is not clear to either the Members of the Board, or Azmin himself?

Section 43(2) of the said Enactment empowers the Director of the Board to instruct by writing any activity, work, structure or building that is located within the flood zones, river reserves, or coastal areas that the Director deems to cause the degradation in quantity of water flow, quality of water, or to cause pollution to improvise or stop the activity, or to modify or to relocate the building.  The Director even has the power to enter such premises at any time and inspect as given by Section 43(3).

I have, in different previous posts (Water, Water Everywhere dated 28th October 2011 and Water, Water Everywhere Part 2 dated 4th November 2011), pointed out the need to protect the water catchment areas.  The value chain starts at water catchment areas and therefore it is imperative that state governments take steps to protect these areas by gazetting them under a specific Act for Water Catchment Areas, and not as it is now, under the Forestry Act.  We often find water resources polluted by human activities in these areas such as logging (legal and illegal), farming, plantation, manufacturing, animal husbandry and indiscriminate dumping of rubbish despite having these areas gazetted under the Forestry Act.

Lo! And behold! The power had already been given to the Board through Section 48 of the Enactment which you can read below (unless you are one of those who criticised Zahid Hamidi for his poor command of the English language while you cannot even speak in Bahasa Malaysia despite holding a Malaysian Identity Card):

So, what are you waiting for, Azmin? Why are you still playing the blame game? This is the effect of the incompetency of the Pakatan government that politicises every single thing that has now caused misery to hundreds of thousands of water account holders in Selangor.  And not only that, the arrogance of biblical proportions that your Executive Councillors and you have make you think that you have the right to play with the lives of those in need of water such as at the Serdang Hospital that had had to declare an emergency for being in dire need of treated water supply.

Screenshot of Free Malaysia Today's post on the emergency situation at the Serdang Hospital (http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/bahasa/2016/09/27/tiada-air-sejak-jumaat-hospital-serdang-dalam-darurat/)

Since being given the power to administrate, the Pakatan-led state government of Selangor has given the rakyat nothing but excuse upon excuse to NOT solve its water woes.  Starting with saying that there would be enough water and the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant is not needed and one suggested by a Pakatan-suporter that there are better alternatives to the Langat 2 WTP.  Yet, nothing was done to solve the problem.  And only in February 2014 that the state government conceded that the Langat 2 WTP is needed after all, a realisation that caused former Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim his job as the rest of his administration and also party office holders did not subscribe to his view.

The Pakatan-led state government should pull its act together and stop giving excuses when it is empowered to protect water sources.  If it does not have the political will to do so, make way for the party that would.

Period!

1BestariNet: When Will Muhyiddin Be Investigated?

Muhyiddin spoke on a PAS platform recently on 1MDB
Muhyiddin spoke on a PAS platform recently on 1MDB

Muhyiddin recently appeared on a PAS platform in Kuala Terengganu to speak about 1MDB etc.  He was invited on the capacity of a former Deputy Prime Minister before the formation of Parti Pribumi which he is a pro-tem President.  Not once did he address the long-standing question from especially the PAS members – how much did he make from the 1BestariNet scandal?

PAS first asked this question back in April 2012. Mahfuz Omar of PAS asked then why was the project not given to known telecommunications players such as Telekom Malaysia, Celcom or TimeDotCom who would be able to provide better Internet backbone to support the project.

The 1BestariNet project is a RM4.077 billion project over 15 years to provide 4G Internet connectivity as well as virtual learning environment for 9,924 schools nationwide.  YTL, a known favourite of Parti Pribumi’s founder Mahathir, secured a RM663 million package signed by Muhyiddin when he was the Minister of Education.  The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in 2015 concluded that the implementation of the First Phase of the project is a failure. Not even a project steering committee and project technical committee were established at ministry-level to ensure its smooth implementation.

Responding to the PAC report, Economic Advisor to the Concerned Social-Minded Association (Persatuan Minda Sosial Prihatin) Suud Ridzuan called for Muhyiddin, the then Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Education to step down to facilitate the investigation into the scandal.

According to the PAC, this project is a failure. Why was there a need to spend so much for this program?” he asked. “I urge the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission to investigate.”

The BN-friendly portal www.pru14.tv also raised a few doubts about the project.  They are among others:

  1. the installation of 1BestariNet Receiver Integrated System (1BRIS) communication towers that are supposed to transmit and receive high-speed wireless data in schools that do not have the appropriate LAN (Local Access Network) structure,
  2. the refusal by YTL to pay RM1,200 per month to the Ministry of Education (MoE) as recommended by the Property Valuation and Service Department for each 1BRIS site. The MoE has thus far bowed down to YTL by allowing them to pay RM1,000 for each 1BRIS site instead;
  3. the installation of the 1BRIS towers increased the electricity bill for each school by RM120 to RM150 monthly.  With YTL’s refusal to pay the RM500 for each 1BRIS tower site, the MoE would have to fork out between RM5.77 million to RM6.92 million each year until the expiration of the contract.

The portal also alleged Muhyiddin’s son-in-law’s involvement in the project, an allegation that has gone unanswered by Muhyiddin.

Perhaps the MACC should seriously look into this issue as it has gone almost forgotten.  Nabbing errant GLC office-holders may be a good thing, but letting a former senior Minister go free after hunderds of millions tangible rakyat‘s funds have been spent without tangible good results will not go down well with the majority.

Mahathir Kampf

A screenshot of Mahathir’s blog raising the Nazi issue while Najib Razak was in Germany

The above was taken from Mahathir’s latest blog posting entitled ‘Propaganda.’  In this posting he likens Najib Razak to being a Nazi with pro-Najib bloggers such as BigDog and Rocky Bru, former staunch supporters of his, as being the Little Goebbels for Najib Razak.  Whatever label that you wish to put on BigDog, I know for one thing his loyalty, other than to the nation, is to the Malays and the Malay cause.  Like me, the straw that broke the ‘sympathy-for-Mahathir‘ camel’s back was when Mahathir joined the BERSIH protest last year, licking his own gob as he backtracked on his own words to not work with the opposition and condemn street demonstrations.

Attacking the bloggers,if the defence of Najib Razak or attacks on behalf of him is not working, is not wise at all.  It goes to show that the likes of BigDog and Rocky are in fact making an impact on Mahathir’s struggle to oust the Premier.  Likening Najib Razak to a Nazi while he is in Germany is not prudent at all.  It shows how insensitive Mahathir is and a lack of decorum on his part.  Then again, when has Mahathir ever showed to possess any sense of decorum at all, if any?

However, history has proven that there is someone with a racist and anti-semitic traits amongst us. Mahathir Mohamed is his name.  So many things that he had said even before his premiership that points to these traits.  Then again, what is Mahathir without his acid tongue?

First and foremost according to this blog, Mahathir s/o Iskandar Kutty is ashamed of his heritage.  In fact, Philip Bowring who was an Editor for the Far Eastern Economic Review and a South China Morning Post columnist once wrote:

‘In his new book, A New Deal for Asia, he writes about his father in such a way as to imply that he was a Malay dedicated to the improvement of his fellow Malays rather than the hard-working Indian immigrant and government servant that he was. No mention of Dr Mahathir’s Indian Muslim background ever appears in the media. The subject is taboo.

And UMNO suffered for 22 years being the cover for Mahathir to hide his true identity while creating a Herrenvolk culture to underscore his superiority especially over the Indians.  In fact, he is now surrounded by people like him who could be termed as Ehrenarier, who are neither Malay but nor would they admit to who they really are.  In 1922, Hitler said in a conversation with Major Joseph Hell (Josef Hell, “Aufzeichnung,” 1922, ZS 640, p. 5, Institut für Zeitgeschichte) that when he has power, “the destruction of the Jews will be my first and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for example, in Munich on the Marienplatz-as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink.

Mahathir said something similar in 1979 about the Vietnamese boat people that was quoted by the Associated Press saying Malaysia would expel 75,540 boat people as well as “arm itself with legal powers to shoot new arrivals on sight.”

In October 2003, just before he left office, he made an anti-semitic remark in October 2003 that got played up by the Western media.  Malaysia is labeled anti-Semitic until today, no thank you to Mahathir.  While we are anti-Zionism, I doubt Malaysia is anti-Jew. One of my former bosses is a Jew who even contributed to a mosque for iftar during Ramadhan.

That is Mahathir being brash and abrasive for you…just so he could get somewhere.

I won’t write about how anti-Chinese Mahathir is.  He enriches a few Chinese businessmen so they would be indebted to him, but at the same time help him to keep the mass of Chinese crabs in a barrel firmly inside the barrel.  You can read more in his ultra-Malay book:

Mahathir’s Kampf

I read that when I found it in my father’s study room back in 1976. It made me worry when Mahathir replaced Hussein Onn as the Prime Minister in 1981.  Since then, the DAP Chinese have been using the excuse of being victimised by the Malays, in particular by UMNO.  Today, whenever the DAP creates racial tension and the Malays react, they would cry victimisation.

Who are we to blame? Erasing two decades of damage done to Malaysia by Mahathir is not easy.  The interracial resentment has set in deep and the outcome of the General Elections of 2008 was the direct result of that. The fact that his followers are still worshipping him for his past while turning a blind eye to his present role as a one-man demolition derby does not help either.  He had probably read ‘Mein Kampf‘ before writing ‘Malay Dilemma‘.  Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the Supreme Leader of Parti Pribumi was once referred to as HITLER.

Perhaps, we need a proper Entnazifizierung program for them.  But until then, Mahathir will just stand proudly while watching his band of Schutzstaffel march past him to do his bidding.

Heil Führer!

Dysfunctional Linguists

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi delivering his speech at the 71st UNGA in New York – photo courtesy of BERNAMA

I admit I cringed when Zahid Hamidi delivered his speech at the 71st UNGA in New York yesterday.  My wife and cousins were in fits.  This wasn’t the first time that I cringed when a Malaysian stood in front of an international audience delivering a speech or presentation with a poor command of the English language.  The first was the late Tun Ghafar Baba who also delivered a speech on behalf of the government also at the UNGA 27 years ago next month talking about the Antarctic Treaty System.  In various oil and gas meetings and conferences, I had to endure speeches delivered by Malaysians and cringed everytime they burst out in a self-made English-sounding slang to accompany their already poor command of the English language.  Definitely Zahid et al need to brush up their command of the English language.  However, there have been meetings and conferences that I have attended where even non-Malaysian speakers struggle with their English-language presentations and discussions.  It is not just Malaysians who have this problem.

Most of those who criticise Zahid are those who still use ‘CONGRATES’ and/or ‘STUCKED.’  And many cannot even converse in Bahasa Malaysia despite having Malaysian birth certificate and identity card. Zahid could of course speak in Bahasa Malaysia, Javanese, a Chinese dialect (his foster father is a Chinese) and as we know now, some English.  My only complain is of the quality of some of the English language teachers that we have. I still see some English teachers on social media

Grammar?
Grammar?

We have had two reports on the importance of Bahasa Melayu becoming the National Language published prior to the 13th May tragedy (Razak Report, 1956 and Rahman Talib Report, 1960). The Mahathir Mohamad Cabinet Report (1985) emphasised the importance of Bahasa Melayu as the unifying language for all races in Malaysia.  In fact, Article 152 of the Federal Constitution and the National Language Act 1963/1967 have uphold Bahasa Melayu as the National Language.  The Razak Report pointed out not only should the medium of teaching in schools be in Bahasa Melayu, but also for a uniformed curriculum to be taught at all schools. However, this was not thoroughly implemented. Children still went to schools with different medium of language.  Different languages instill different values; and the use of Bahasa Melayu as a medium of teaching became a serious issue (Abdullah Hassan, 1996: 265).

As an outcome of the 13th May tragedy, political leaders got together and agreed that a single language as a medium of teaching is the way to foster unity amongst the different races of Malaysia.  Tun Datuk Patinggi Hj Abdul Rahman Bin Ya’kub, the Education Minister in 1970 instructed all English-medium schools to use Bahasa Melayu in stages.  Only a few Chinese schools continued to teach lessons in Mandarin (Abdullah Hassan, 1996: 266).

The rift is getting worse now. We have chauvinistic organisations championing the right to teach subjects in the vernacular to their students, while the National Language becomes just one of the subjects. Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Myanmarese now have better command of the National Language than many of the people’s representatives.  Who are we to blame?  So, stop complaining about Zahid. If he can improve his command of the English language, can you improve your Bahasa Malaysia too?

Selangor Water Crisis: Time To Change The Top Management

By “Top Management” I mean the state government.

Yes!

For the people of Petaling district, this is the second time that taps have run dry. The first was just before Aidil Adha (2nd September 2016) when a pipe burst caused taps in Subang Jaya, USJ, parts of Puchong and Pinggiran USJ to not have water supply for about three days. The second time which began two days ago is caused by contamination of the raw water supply to the Semenyih River Water Treatment Plant and this time several districts are affected namely

  • Hulu Langat (Bangi, Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Kajang, Semenyih and Rinching),
  • Kuala Langat (Morib, Banting, Saujana Putra, Bandar Rimbayu and Teluk Panglima Garang),
  • Petaling (USJ1-27, Puchong, Seri Kembangan and Serdang),
  • Sepang (Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Bandar Nusa Putra, Putra Heights, Pulau Meranti, Kota Warisan, Bandar Bukit Puchong and Sungai Merab).

If you have no idea how huge an area that is, let me represent them using the map below:

Both these situations were totally avoidable. Since 2010 various water-related non-governmental organisations, water industry players as well as the Federal Government have advised the Pakatan-led Selangor state government to allow for the construction and completion of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant. Else, Selangor would face a water crisis by 2014. The state government vehemently denied that Selangor would face such a crisis.

True enough, people in Selangor had to undergo scheduled rationing in 2014 and 2015. 60,000 accounts were affected. That translates into at least 360,000 people who were directly affected. This time it could be far more.

Selangor has been giving away 20 cubic meters of water free to consumers since 2008 when Pakatan won the state from the Barisan Nasional – a very poorly thought of political decision; a populist move rather than a prudent one. It costs a lot not only to treat water but also to maintain 27,420 kilometres of pipes. Giving away water for free and not increasing tariffs will ensure that you would not be able to maintain your operations efficiently, and even an idiot would know this.

When a pipe burst on the 2nd September 2016, instead of helping by explaining the situation, an assemblyman decided to take it out on Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (SYABAS). This assemblyman gave the most absurd ideas on how to manage water cuts:

This invited a basket of zombies to support her statement, some even blaming the Federal government for the problem. In one of the community WhatsApp groups one even said that maybe the problem was created by the Barisan Nasional to create hatred towards the Selangor state government. What they failed to realise is that the Selangor state government IS the one managing it’s water treatment and supply:

Not clear enough? How about this? From September 2015, the Selangor state government owns the water concessionaires in the state!

The second problem is that unlike Penang, Selangor does not gazette its water catchment areas. Factories, loggers have no problem whatsoever to encroach into the water catchment areas. It is a no-brainer that this is the contributing factor to the hundreds of cases of contamination of the Langat and Semenyih rivers and their tributaries.

Let us not kid each other. The Selangor state government has been in denial about the dire water situation in the state since 2008. It was made worse when the whole situation was not dealt with properly and by not heeding the advice of the industry players.

So, I hope Hannah Yeoh actually means it when she said there should be a management change. It should be a change in the management of the state. It can’t even handle the basic but extremely critical issues and it’s members are spending more time bashing others than actually looking into the problems the rakyat is facing! And when shit actually hits the fan, this is the sorry excuse to say “Oh! We’re with you! We feel your pain!

Yes, Hannah Yeoh. Let us have that change in the management soon. Your voters are already supporting your call.

In the famous words of your fellow party member and former USJ resident Jeff Ooi,

When Will Kit Siang Ask Mahathir About “Project IC”?

Having found a partner-in-crime in Mahathir, Lim Kit Siang pushes aside all allegations that he had made against the founder of the Pribumi party.

Three years on, as the DAP Parliamentary Leader still owes the people of Sabah an answer pertaining to Mahathir’s involvement in the IC-for-vote scam otherwise known as “Project IC” or “Project M.”

I am not making this up. I am merely asking Lim Kit Siang if, now that he has Mahathir’s ears, the allegations he had made against the latter are true, or if he had been misleading the Sabahans especially in a scam of his called “I-Lie-For-Votes”?

—-———————————

Katanya, klip video terkenal “Listen, listen, listen!” Sharifah-Bawani adalah bukti terkini berterusan dan bahaya tersembunyi pusaka 22 tahun pemerintahan drakonian Mahathir, mendedahkan kepalsuan dakwaan bahawa pemerintahan Najib membuang segala beban lampau yang bersifat Mahathir dan kini menganut kepercayaan “Era kerajaan tahu semua telah berlalu”. – Roketkini.com

I would like to call upon Malaysians now to ask Lim Kit Siang if Mahathir has answered him, and make the answer known to us all, especially the Sabahans, in the mass and electronic media.

Lim Kit Siang can read the original article here in case he is absent-minded.
